The website's profile for Samb shows "California" as her school of choice, but there's no story on her commitment to the Bears. Is there any confirmation of Samb's commitment? If correct, this would be big news. Samb is a 4-star, 6'4" post from Westside HS in Houston, Texas. Her final three choices were Cal, Harvard and Northwestern. Charmin would be wise to sign another big to compliment Samb, who would probably start as a Freshman as CJ West would have graduated after this season. Potentially great news.

Usually those types of things end up holding true, but I do recall a blunder ages ago where a list of commitments by ESPN listed Charde Houston w/ UCLA, even though she would go on to sign with UConn and the UCLA thing was simply an error, not a change of decisions.

I believe she is the commit. If Coach Smith can get Samb, Jenkins and or Daniels, this will be a top class. This would put the Cal WBB program back on the map. These are the bigs we need. Coach Smith and Asst. Coach Phillips are top notch recruiters. Don't be surprised if they get two if not three top recruits.

I don't think a school is allowed to discuss a recruit by name until they sign a LOI or enroll in school, but I could be wrong. This year's LOI early signing period begins November 13.bearchamp said:

Verbal commitments are announced constantly for football.
Also, check swimming and track: lots of announcements of verbals.

According to Dan Olson and ESPN Hoopgurlz (he's the best, I think, of a good group of evaluators), Samb remains uncommitted.
That really only means she hasn't made a formal verbal announcement (via social media, usually), so it's not definitive. But it would feel better if she did post something ...

Congratulations to Charmin and her staff on landing a 5 star post player! I can't wait to find out the remainder of the 2000 recruit class. Early signing date in Nov 13th? Hopefully the silent will become visible then... GO BEARS!
