Found it interesting that only four PAC12 schools are in the top 20 in these rankings: Oregon #1, Stanford #5, Cal #6 and Utah #20. So Charmin has immediately out-recruited nine other schools in the league. Nice start.

Oregon and Stanford have been dominating the conference recruiting for the last three years or so...UCLA & Oregon State have probably been the next two schools. Arizona & Utah seem to be climbing the ladder over the last 1-2 years. Hopefully-Cal is now in position to join the recruiting competition on a regular basis. GO BEARS!

So what happened to Oregon State? Looks like a lot of swing and misses this year.

Lynn Roberts is a good coach. 20-10 record last year. Last two recruiting classes have been headed by a highly-ranked in-state player from Utah. Other top player this year, McFarland, is out of a similar environment - Boise. Also seem to have a well-developed Canadian pipeline.

Oregon State was not in the Top 20 classes because they only signed two, players. But both were wing players ranked in the Prospect Nation Top 100.

One aspect that makes teams desirable to recruits is if there are vacancies at their position. One reason that Cal did well-recruiting posts was that Cal was thin at that position meaning a lot of playing time as freshman. Oregon St, on the other hand, presently has more posts than they know what to do with. What they needed was a point guard and in that area, they were not that successful. They have Goodwin coming back next season and Slocum might not declare early.

Interestingly enough, Uconn has not been successful in recruiting posts even though they have needed them for multiple seasons now. They got Ono last year, but she was a late commit and is still their only post player. So it always does not work that way either. Perhaps it's because Geno seems to want to limit taller players to the traditional role of posts and the new trend is for them to want to play outside the paint. That is why Stevens left early.

Looking at various lists, it seems that all of the top wing and shooting guards in this US class are now signed. There are a few point guards left, but none seem to be looking at Cal. Presuming that this is being viewed as a three-year plan, we should now be looking at grad and other transfers to see if we can get one more shooter into the mix, pending recruitment of next year's class. Najee Murray also seems to be a good three-point shooter, so she will also be a nice addition.

She probably is a very good coach -- but I'm sure some posters on this board would already be calling for her firing after an 0-3 OOC start this year (as well as last year's late-season collapse to miss the NCAA tournament)....

Why we would ask for her firing ..since she isn't our coach? In fact we would hope she stays on, so that we can beat them. I think she does well for the material she has to work with.

Roberts only makes $275,000 a year. For that, she is an absolute bargain.

In addition to losing Megan Huff to graduation, one problem this year for Utah is that their five-star guard recruit, Kemery Martin, isn't doing much of anything at this point. Having played against high school competition in Utah, she may not be ready to jump into D1 competition, Doubt that Utah will finish 7th in the league this year as the PAC12 coaches predicted.

Is she working with plaids or stripes? Cuz when it comes to material, I prefer SOLIDS!!
