Brutal schedule ... on the road to Oregon State and their Olympian Jade Carey who is competing at both the NCAA level and at the Elite level! Then hosting the resurgent UCLA program with sisters facing offf ... Bruin Margzetta Frazier vs her lil sis eMjae Frazier. Then back on the road to Utah.

We will see what this Bear team is made of. Cal lost of alot of experience with the graduation of 7 members but they return their top two All Arounders in Nevaeh Desouza and Andi Li. Lots of youth and tons of talent on this squad. If this youth can mix well, Cal should be in the fight for the title again!

I recently noticed that this roster has seven members that have not really participated in the regular playing rotation yet for Cal. The Bears only have six returnees that contributed regularly to the team's success last season. Two more gymnasts saw spot duty a couple of times. One would anticipate that newcomer, EMjae Frazier, should be able to become a member of the regular rotation

I am a novice fan that watches the televised meets and follows the scores, etc. It really hurt Cal last season to lose Kyana George to injury. There was a rumor last year that she likely would return this season but transferred to a SEC school instead. This departure hurts because Cal has negligible room for injuries among their proven talent.

The two stellar all-arounders, Nevaeh De Souza & Andi Li, should be the foundation of the team entering 2022. Two sophs, Maddie Williams & Mya Lauzon, appear to possess the potential to become all-arounders, too. I also would imagine that Cal's star freshman, eMjae Frazier, would join the mix. Maya Green was a specialist in one or two events last year so she probably would be the sixth gymnast for the Bears. Late in the season, Gabby Perea debuted and began to be inserted into the lineup often.

I have read the resumes of the other freshmen (2) and sophomores (3) that haven't broken into the lineup. Do you have any idea which are the leading candidates among this group to step up in 2022? Senior Natalie Sadighi could also be a specialist this year. GO BEARS!

The last couple of recruiting classes have been highly ranked by College Gym News, The 2021 Class led by Mya Lauzon & Maddie Williams was rated #3. The 2022 Class was rated #4 which features eMjae Frazier but Miki Anderinto was rated higher than eMjae. They also just recently picked up Jayden Silvers who reclassified into this class and said to have a shot at cracking some lineup when she enrolls at Cal for Spring semester 2023.

I would guess the early season lineups will have veterans Maya Green & Natalie Sadighi stepping up but by midseason the talented newcomers will be pushing for spots. Jordan Kane & Miki Anderinto would be the names to look out for.

Exactly the kind of info that I was looking for! Thank you very much for sharing. Most sports that I follow I played or my daughter played (field hockey). Swimming, water polo & gymnastics are exceptions among the other 26 at Cal. GO BEARS!

For expert analysis here is an article that just came out looking at the top squads in the Pac 12. They seeing Frazier making the most impact of the incoming freshman.

JTfromClash-thank you for a preview of the coming season. Do you know how the conference fared in recruit class rankings? It mentioned Cal, UCLA & Stanford had top six recruit classes. It moved Stanford right up with Cal & UCLA. How about Oregon State?

The analyst had nice things to say about Casey Brown on bars and Jayden Silvers on floor exercise but went nuts over eMjae Frazier as a "difference maker". I was surprised that Mikaile Aderinto was not specifically mentioned. The analyst also left out that Cal lost Kyanna George. The Bears lost six (6) quality gymnasts that were regular scorers in a single season! Nobody else in the Pac 12 took heavy losses like that, did they? GO BEARS!

According to https://collegegymnews.com/recruit-ratings/

Class of 2022 - Stanfurd at 3, Cal 4, UCLA at 6, Utah at 25
Class of 2023 - Stanfurd at 2, Utah at 5, Washington at 7, Cal at 10, Oregon State 17, Zona 23

Interesting no UCLA in Top 25 for 2023. Gotta be some kind of oversight. Selena Harris is regarded at the top recruit and going to UCLA.

The past couple of days was the World Gymnastic Championships 2022. Didn't see any of it but a number of NCAA gymnasts did compete.

Interesting that several of those in the know say Ondine Achampong is still verbally committed to Cal. She has been committed for quite some time but keeps putting off enrolling in college to compete at the elite level and sounds like training for the next Olympics. She's a big time recruit if she ever does come to Cal. Her scholarship for this year was recently given to Jayden Silvers so that might indicate Ondine still not done competing at the elite level. Not sure there is a 2024 scholarship still available so maybe she won't come until 2025 post-Olympics.
