Frankly, I love the aggression. Anyone who remembers watching Chelsea play remembers that was her style. And after many years of the complete opposite style with Ninemire, it's kind of a breath of fresh air.

With that saidโ€ฆ.Maybe need to tone it down a bit. We lost multiple runs yesterdayโ€ฆ.and likely a game!

Cal cannot win them all but that game was certainly winnable. Tough loss (21-3). It would make a statement if the Bears bounce back today and take the Duck's series in Eugene for the 1st time since 2012. GO BEARS!

Tatum Anzaldo sets the tone for Cal by getting thrown out by ten feet or more attempting to go from first to third on a sac bunt by Lagi Quiroga. She has been thrown out three times stealing and thrown at third base multiple times this season. She's a friggin' hot dog and I'm tired of her act.

Oregon's Ariel Carlson is the example of a team leader. She leads her team in almost every game. She steals nearly every attempt. She singled and immediately stole second base.

Bear batters appear to be pressing after losing last night. Today-the opening series is on the line. In each of the three games, Cal has not scored in the 1st or the 2nd inning. Why not send a message today and score first?

^ pretty sure this is a coaching base running decision by the head coach but bottom line the bears r continuing to run themselves outta innings

Why didn't Cal send Holly Medina? She had 35 steals last season. Her speed was one of the primary reasons that Spencer recruited her.

Bears get another runner thrown out trying to steal. Then they leave the bases loaded. If the runner was not out on the base paths, Cal would have taken the lead, 1-0. Who's in charge of base running among the coaching staff?

^ medina would've been dead at home plate as the ducks left fielder has demonstrated an accurate rocket arm this series, holly barely got back safely to 3rd base...a little base running restraint by the bears is a good thing

Oregon jumps out in the lead, again. It's 2-0 after three innings. Three of the Duck's four singles have been infield. Randi Roelling got out of a bases loaded one out jam with two hard hit outs. One was a sac fly to the warning track in CF.

Chelsea Spencer has had three consecutive power hitters square around to bunt in the T4th. Elon Butler was finally allowed to hit with two strikes and then Tianna Bells had to sac bunt two runners over to second & third base. Herrera had to call time out to the umpire when she had to doublecheck Chelsea's bunt sign with the tying runs in scoring position. She fouled one bunt off and then hit a line drive sac fly to LF. Ducks up 2-1.

B4th starts off with another hard hit ball off of RR. It was a smash at shortstop and it went right through Acacia Anders for an E6. Cal's infield defense is not helping its pitching staff very much. Roelling walked Delgado, their #9 hitter. Randi struck her out twice yesterday with her curve ball. She's in trouble now with their best hitters coming up.

Another Cal error on a pickoff attempt by Quiroga at 3rd allows the runner to score (3-1). Huge strikeout of Ariel Carlson for second out but then RR wild pitches another runner home on a 3-2 count. Walks the left-handed hitter with a wild pitch that bounced to home plate. It appears that Roelling is struggling bigtime today. She is saved by a diving catch by Todd in RF to save more damage. Oregon takes control, 4-1.

Cal goes three up, three down in the top of the top of the 5th. This pitcher Scott threw 100 pitches in the nitecap last night and is handling the Bears without much trouble. Cal cannot get the ball out of the infield. Ducks are hitting RR quite a bit harder. Bottom of the Oregon's order musters back-to-back singles in B5th. Delgado just beat Cal's shift against the lefty by pulling the ball through the empty right side of the infield.

Cal has six outs left and trails 5-1. So far, Bears do not look like a nationally ranked team.

Cal hits three balls hard and deep in the T6th. Kaylee Pond and Acacia Anders hit balls to the warning track in LF & RF, respectively. Elon Butler powers one over the LCF fence for her tenth HR of the season. Tianna Bell pops up for the 3rd out. Oregon has eight singles on the day and 3 walks for their five runs. Two errors and a wild pitch also contributed to the Duck offense.

Three outs remain for Cal, trailing 5-2. Oregon will be right back in the Top 25 after taking the series from Cal. I would imagine that Bears will drop a couple spots. Today was one of the team's weakest performances of the season.

Next Pac9 opponent: Stanford in Berkeley for three.

Can't continue to do this. Realistically I can think of (an opportunity) to score 4-6 runs that we ran ourselves out of this weekend.

Oh well. On to the next. GO BEARS

I will note Oregon is the best defense in the Pac 12. Would some of these decisions lead to errors against other teams? Absolutely. But maybe the strategy changes when you continue to run and be aggressive against the #1 defense in the Pac (with no success).

Also...Oregon's SS is phenomenal. She reminds me of Coach Spencer!

Thanks, Shocky. I started a new thread for the big series, as we are no longer at the Demarini invitational. For those who are close and able bodied, I hope to see everyone cheering on Cal at Levine-Fricke.
