Nice hire. Was great for ASU, team USA, etc. Very well known and will be a great asset for recruiting

That's great news. A pitching coach is probably our biggest need but a batting coach and base running coach is not far behind. There are a lot of top players coming in so there is hope. Softball has been just as frustrating as football. The illegal pitches, poor base running, not wearing sunglasses in the outfield till balls drop is maddening.

D'Arcy is super-qualified as a pitching coach. Ninemire receives an "A" grade on this hire. However, he must be age 60 or older based upon his bio?

I agree with GATC that the Cal HC should overall her staff and bring in a hitting instructor and someone strong on fundamentals. The Bears need to improve baserunning, hitting & defense, IMO! GO BEARS!

Perhaps he's seen as a short term fix. Ninemire is no spring chicken herself and may feel she needs to get back to OKC in the next 2-4 years to cap off her career. Her window of opportunity may be closing.

It's going to take a lot to get back to OKC. We pretty much stunk at everything last year. Worst hitting team, blotched routine grounders, fly balls, base running (this will never get better) etc. Ninemire needs to get really serious with herself to get back to OKC. However, this is a nice start... The game has evolved and so have the best coaches.

Certainly we need to get better, nowhere more so than in the circle, but this was a pretty young team in '13 and didn't suffer badly through graduation. I see reason to hope.

Ninemire was starting to remind me of Tedford with her reluctance to give up control and not let young players play when the game was already lost. Agree that this is a home run.

If we get decent play in the circle, this will be an exciting team to watch in 2015. Unfortunately, while there were flashes of excitement at times, the pitchers simply didn't hold their own last year. There are other issues with hitting, fielding and base running, but the big issue is pitching and this hire is huge.

Our #2 recruiting class is having some nice moments at PGF. Pogue hitting. 500 with 2 bombs. Jackson hitting.455...Fitzpatrick ('15) had a 15 k game last week in 16's. The future is bright

Limited, mixed results with only a dozen ABs or one pitching appearance. Pitchers, Cullen & Kourtney Shaw, struggling early. Fillmore & Pettis are each 1 for 12 hitting. Is Fillmore still refraining from pitching? SS Lindsay Rood is hitting .500 early coming off a below average high school season in 2014...Zoe Marrott has no stats, yet. I'll get into it more this weekend. I've got my income tax appointment this afternoon. What team is Jazmyn Jackson playing for, CF? Any links to Kristin Hoover from Team Florida?
GO BEARS!

Shaw is really the only arm on the staff after Blanco got injured. She pitched the first 3 games giving up only 1 run. Forgive her if she is now exhausted pitching her fourth and fifth game in as many days without the other ace on the staff to give her support. If "struggling" is getting your team to the top 8 side of the winners bracket, against the best competition in the country with no support... and throwing a 3 hit shutout against the So Cal Athletics...than I will take that struggling pitcher!! LOL

With D'Arcy extensive background hope he can provide some advice for our hitting/fielding too! To me, he very well could be an Associate Head Coach. This is a make or break season for Nisa Ontiveros.

Sorry! I clicked on the various summer ball teams that I recognized, looking for Cal recruits. I believe that I saw the boxscore stats for Kourtney Shaw. I'm excited that she has been doing well. Thankyou Cal Fanatic for correcting me. I did not interpret the stats incorrectely on purpose. I did state that the stats were very limited. Kristina Inouye also is hitting well (.400) w/ a homerun.

Can you provide a link for U16 competition? Thankyou. GO BEARS!

Worst hitting team,
Do Cal use outside instructors to work with our hitters? I talked to a grandma of a player who she says is being already scouted but not sure about being recruited yet. She (SS, 3B) plays for the Bears AAU team (Martinez) and will be a Freshmen at Alhambra this coming year. This summer she played mainly U-14 but last games she was invited to play for the U-18 in the recent Irvine, CA tournament and also was selected to go to Italy with a traveling team. Her GM says the GD's hitting coach also works with the Cal players, however her GM says her GD ambition is to play for the Oregon Quacks. Looked at the Bears past alumni with the best being 2012 Haley Tobler who starts for Tenn but most players wound up a mid D1 schools.

The Alhambra coaches are great (the team hits the snot out of the ball, has 3 Pac recruits, and one is the head coach of the Nor Cal Shockers)... but they are NOT Ninemire fans. Expect her to end up at Oregon if that's where she wants to go.

The OC Batbusters are currently leading the Corona Angels 2-0 in the 5th for the PGF Championship. Superstars McQuillin (Arizona) and Garcia (UCLA) are battling. Shame we couldn't nab either.

Positive? Jackson is the only one so far to get a hit off of McQuillin today. She is 10-19 in the tournament!!

Looks like Baseball just hired a new hitting coach. For a second I got excited because I thought it was for softball.
