For example (cheers bearz012), Isabel Gormley (#27 Nat, #1 NY), who has already taken trips to LSJU & UVA, has been spotted @ Legends today!
In terms of valued targets for 2020, guess we haven't really talked about
Isabel Gormley over here, having focussed mostly on the top tier of high profile prospects in what promises to be a really strong recuiting class - one which has been widely touted to be the best class since the 2015 edition which had gifted Bears with the Dream Team & more.
Well, to make up partly for that, note that Cal's first known 2020 visitor has some impressive creds to her name, most notable of which is Gormley's recent
progression curve.
Not to mention, IG additionally can lay claim to some serious chops in long
course, not unlike that of her fellow visitor to the Farm this weekend,

ISABEL GORMLEY BECOMES 3RD-FASTEST 16YO IN NATION WITH 4:15.69 400 FR
AGUA's 16-year-old Isabel Gormley dropped over four seconds and now sits behind only Madelyn Donohoe and Regan Smith in the ranks of 16-year-old women nation-wide.
Most importantly, that Isabel has selected
Cal,
LSJU &
UVA for her visits surely attests to her academics?
Haven't researched
Gormley's stats that deeply or indeed looked at all her events, but here are a few notable points from a brief & limited preview, referenced against a few of our
2019 Baby Bears:
* 400 IM *4:08.80
Gormley (prev PB = 4:13.71 @ March 2017)
4:12.08 Ivey
4:13.94 Clark
4:15.41 Fiorilli
4:15.83 Dimeco
4:16.55 Klinker
IG's PB in the
400 IM falls just a few places out of qualifying for 2018 NCAA FINALS, and she will have a year & a half to make further inroads in her time standards before graduating HS.
* 500 Free *4:44.26 DiMeco
4:45.58
Gormley4:46.25 Kalandadze
4:46.73 Klinker
4:49.92 Fiorilli
* 200 IM *1:55.77 Ivey
1:57.32 Clark
1:58.68 Spitz
1:59.57
Gormley2:01.49 DiMeco
2:02.88 Fiorilli
2:03.47 Carter
2:04.25 Davidson
2:05.41 Klinker
2:08.53 Kalandadze
Here are some of
Gormley's other events when compared to some of the big names in her class, albeit these events aren't necessarily the primary races for most of her peers here, incl. for Gormley:
* 100 Free * = 50.71 - currently faster than #18 Nordmann, #4 Bray, #6 Bacon
* 200 Free * = 1:48.81 - currently faster than #13 Albiero, #16 Cooper, #3 Stadden, #6 Bacon, #5 Dobler & Sticklen
Lots of room for improvements tho in her
* 100 Breast * -> 1:11.25 ! (but that's from back in 2016) - a mite surprised that IG's 400 IM times are so strong in spite of her breast speed, reckon it's a testimony to her versatility...
On a sobering note, before we begin to invest a lot of hope for a Cal verbal from
Isabel Gormley in these early stages,
bearz012 did point to this article from
Swimming World where Gormley's admiration for the universally well-liked
Lia Neal (ex-furdette Olympian who was instrumental in luring Manual & Ledecky over to the Dark Side) could turn out to be a major influence on her collegiate decision...
