In just the last two decades, regimes in El Salvador, Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua and Mexico have all indicted former presidents. I won't even mention Cuba or Haiti. (alternative regimes are not allowed) complain, and, your ashes are sent to your family..
And, we are only talking about South and Central America. You don't want to know what they do to former Presidents in Africa..
This does not happen if you have a fair and free press. Beginning around 20 years ago, our MSM, Social Media and Hollywood began acting as the Praetorian Guard for the Demo party.
We now have a two-tiered system of justice in this country.
what do Hillary Clinton, James Comey, Lois Lerner, Sandy Berger Eric Holder, all have in common?????None were prosecuted for anything despite committing crimes of much greater or equal value than Rudy Giuliani, Roger Stone, Paul mana fort, Michael Flynn, Carter Page, Michael Cohen, etc.

The only way people on the enemy list of Right Wing Republicans are going to jail is if the Republicans establish a totalitarian state (which is a real possibility).Otherwise it will take a unanimous jury verdict to send them to the slammer.

Since those on the enemy list are accused of committing imaginary crimes, none of them are going to jail if our current political and judicial system holds.

On the other hand, tRump and his associates committed actual crimes and they have been convicted by juries (Manafort, Stone) or they were pardoned by tRump before they could be tried and convicted (Flynn, Bannon). Others affiliated with tRump's campaign pled guilty.

tRump and members of his family have committed crimes and they may face trial and conviction.

Bottom Line: Right Wing Republicans and media specialize in making emotionally charged allegations of criminal wrongdoing on the part of their enemies to lather up their f@ucking childlike, sub moronic base, but it is always nonsense with no supporting evidence.

Our slide into a Third World country began with Donald Trump and his disrespect for his office, his constituents, his cabinet, and anyone else he didn't agree with. He vilified press and spent his entire term in office spinning lies. He used the office solely to enrich and entertain himself and at no point was he a public servant. Meanwhile, his Supreme Court justices are erasing 60 years of progress.

If you want to know when the US started acting like a banana republic it was when Donald Trump took office. Things won't be back to normal until Trump is either dead, incapacitated, or in jail.

Oh, I think it began way before that.

The first Banana Republican was Ronald Reagan. You might recall his 1981 inauguration speech, where he asserted that "Government IS The Problem" as he took control of said government.

In the decades since, we've had less government, less democracy, fewer rights, less privacy, less economic and political power for Workers/Customers/Voters, and more economic & political power for oligarchs & large corporations. The Banana Republicans, along with the corporate "Democrats" are on the verge of drowning Our Government in the bathtub, once and for all.
