San Diego has one of the more popular County Fairs in the country (top 5). In 2016 there were 1.6 million attendees this year, thanks to COVID-19, ZERO.

Even though the state owns the fairgrounds; today messages went out that the Fair is going bankrupt.
The Fair is asking for $20 million in State money; Started a Social media campaign to pressure politicans (and raise donations?) Please help save the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

And it's a Constitutional emergency as well as Del Mar (and other county fairgrounds) are home to the very successful Crossroads of the West gun shows.
The home page for the Save the Fairgrounds campaign urges SD citizens to contact their elected representatives. The only member of the House listed was Nancy Pelosi; the four Congressional representatives from San Diego were not listed. Is the fair planning to ask for Federal funds as well?

San Diego has lost their two biggest money making events, Comic Con and the County Fair and travel to San Diego is down 95%. This area's tax base is primarily tourist taxes (hotels, eateries, events). This may be the start of a massive wave of public sector bankruptcy threats while the Kentucky fiddler plays alone.

Seems like it's doomed in a number of ways- crowds, food, animals, concerts - though may be more fear than fact. I don't think Iowa would cancel it's fair but who in California cares?

COVID didn't kill the county fair. Politicians did with their senseless lockdowns.
