Not even close? Hendrix, Page, etcetera...
Not even close. EVH literally changed the way the guitar was played.chazzed said:Matthew Patel said:

Any way, may EVH rest in peace. As I am a hard rock and metal fiend, I really enjoyed his art.

I think you could fairly say Van Halen was the most influential of his era though. RIP to him.
Yup, that's why I brought up Berry, who IMO is at the top of the list if you're talking about "most influential." None of those other guys could have done anything without him.chazzed said:sycasey said:Chuck Berrychazzed said:Matthew Patel said:

I have no problem with that assessment. I just had to poiint out the hyperbole in "that ever lived or will ever live", and I'm a big fan.

Holy sh*t. Had no idea EVH was part Indonesian. No wonder he looks part-Asian!!!
You know who else is of Dutch and Indonesian descent? Zack Morris from Saved by the Bell.

One of the more influential white guys maybe. Maybe you need a lesson in social justice Yogi.Matthew Patel said:Not even close. EVH literally changed the way the guitar was played.chazzed said:Matthew Patel said:

Without Robert Johnson, Chuck Berry and BB King there is no R&B, rock, etc. And jazz folks will tell you about Wes Montgomery.
For hard rockers, EVP was an inspiration with his techniques and support devices. In fact brilliant. But his style is limited. As for playing hard rock riffs during that era, I will take Slash and Young thank you.
You sure about that?Matthew Patel said:
