Well seeing that Lilly was already an honorary of sorts @ 2016 NCAAs, at least in some folks' eyes (guilty here lol), reckon that a lot of the crew here would have spoilt her with the same sort of VIP treatment that we continue to favour the Dream Team with

Not too late really for Lilly to change her mind (hint hint to those of her relatives & friends who may be checking up on the board from time to time ~wink wink~) ... heck I'm sure Teri would be very happy to have Ray Looze come along as part of the package haha. At any rate, Lillia will surely be a household name after she snags a few Olympic medals in a week's time!

Had actually noticed that Miranda was listed under "Club Wolverine" at trials and a couple of meets before then...didn't think much of it at the time as had just assumed she was training closer to home after NCAAs...after all, Miranda was the #1 ranked recruit from Michigan in the class of 2015:

Well one can but dream...even if it happens to be a bit of an empty dream here

No matter, we'll continue to madly cheer Lilly all the way on to the podium in Rio ... @ future Worlds & Grand prix events ... also @ the B1G Conference! Heck, even @ NCAAs...esp when she prevails against the Furd & U$C

Now, mind you, should Maggie Aroesty or Nikol Popov ever get recruited as baby s and they face off in the blue & gold against Lilly @ the 2018 & 2019 editions of the big dance, well naturally things may be a bit different there...

Both have scary range: Penny-50/100/200 Frees plus100 Fly, Ruck-back, sprints, distance. Likely top ranked recruits in consecutive classes.

Penny's further along now than Abbey and Manuel were at 16.

'SC recruiting should be interesting to follow. Way too many doping problems and allegations directly and indirectly associated with the Trojan Swim Club: Efinova, Morozov, Hardy, Hosszu, Glaesner, Pinzon, Mellouli, and Lobinsev.

HD, I think that would help our arch rivals more than us.

Yeah, the stanford coaches/recruiters would have a 20 minute drive rather than an hour drive, but it sounds like the santa clara complex is going to draw swimmers from all over
a lot of swimming talent will compete there giving Cal (and Stanford) an easy drive to go see
sounds like it will still be a long time before it's built

Hope prospective recruits will take note of this latest survey where Cal was ranked #3 globally (hopefully they won't notice at the same time that LSJU took the spot above us ):

BearDevil, if Penny becomes the Prime Minister of Canada, does that ruin her NCAA eligibility, and thus she will not be able to swim for Cal?

For those of you who may be experiencing withdrawal symptoms in the post-Rio lull before the 2016-2017 NCAA season gets going in earnest, there's always the 2016 Junior Pan Pacific Championships to look forward to for a quick swimming fix. Wed 24 Aug thru Sat 27 Aug at the Kihei Aquatic Center in Maui, Hawaii. Prelims @ 12 noon PT, Finals 8 pm PT.

May be worthwhile keeping an eye on the long course performance progression of many of the 2016/2017/2018 recruits who have been the topic of discussion here, on both the women & men's side. Of note will be the participation of 2017 Cal commit Ryan Hoffer in the competition, and the presence of Caitlin Leverenz (also Matt Grevers) as a mentor - hope they will both do their part in wooing a number of these potential future stars to the blue & gold!
