    T&F weekend performance

There were a number of outstanding performances over the weekend at DAWG's indoor invitational. The eye popping one was frosh Paramveer Chohan running an 47.34 in the 400. Chohan from Buchanan HS ran the short sprints & HH in high school. He made the finals in Cal state meet in the HH but came in last. He also ran a leg in the 4x400 relay coming in 2nd at 3:13.98. The best time last year even in the outdoor was in the 3:18!

Other winners & outstanding performances, men: Robert Brandt winning the 5000 in 14:05.08. Ashtyn Davis winning the 60HH 7.75, Garrett Corcoran winning his heat of the 3000 in 8:09.31, Thomas Joyce nice early season time in the mile of 4:02.83, Peter Simon's SP of 60'-9.25", and Eugene Hamilton's 1:151.07 in the 800 and also ran anchor leg on the 4x400 relay.

women: Bethan Knights 2nd place of 16:15.54 and a PR by Megan Bordes 16:41.76 both in the 5000 and Destiny Parker winning the Weight throw 64-1.25 which is a PR of over 5'.

The short sprint still look to be weak events for the Bears. No Muhammad or Robertson sighting yet.

My niece, Timarya Jade Baynard, place 1st in the indoor 400 meters amongst 48 runners in 55.60 (heat 10). Perhaps I should contact Tony Sandoval with an e-mail. Cal only gives partial scholarships these days for Track & Field, correct? Jade's father died within the month of a heart attack at age 54. The former Piedmont Hills star is running for San Francisco State. She placed 3rd & 5th in the 400m at state.

They're getting better. Contact Chas Davis who handles a lot of the intro-recruiting details. chasdavis AT berkeley etc. He's very responsive and I am sure they would be keenly interested in your niece, assuming her grades are reasonably close to the mark.
