The producers of the show fell for this act? They should be demoted to Bravo.

No, Cal alum/Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss didn't fall for this act.

The Bachelor/ette franchise -- consisting of 21 Bachelor seasons and 13 Bachelorette seasons -- is in its 16th year.

He isn't stupid. He knows exactly what he's doing.

A simple YouTube search of that guy will show that he has a "theatrical reel" and that he's been on another reality TV dating show.

Fleiss knew that the Whaboom guy would generate buzz for this series: https://www.bustle.com/p/what-does-w...s-season-58615

He knew late-night talk shows would be lapping it up.

I don't even watch The Bachelorette, but I knew about Whaboom guy a week before because producers used "Whaboom" as his job title -- and that generated buzz. http://people.com/tv/the-bachelorett...ay-31-suitors/

That's why an aging reality show like The Bachelor/ette has been around longer than American Idol. That's why it's still a pop-culture sensation.

Whether you like him or not, Mike Fleiss knows how to keep the show relevant.

Which is why he's worth enough money to fork over $16 million to buy Julia Roberts' Hawaii estate.

That's like saying Nick Saban will be promoted to become head coach of a high school football team.

The Bachelor is on a broadcast network. Bravo is cable. Different playing fields.

I haven't watched Real Housewives since the first season, when Alex Morgan's Cal roommate was on the show.

I do like Andy Cohen's work, though, especially when he visits Howard Stern or when he gets celebrities to talk sh!t on Watch What Happens Live.
