Who's that guy in the last picture? Certainly isn't a Bear.

Originally thought the picture of Pebs was in Berlin. Romans gotta be just as pissed off at the Germans as Taco Bell is with the farm.

It isn't Hunter if that's whom you were referring to!

Nope, he's actually Hayes Johnson, a Horns alum who was on their swim team 2008-2012. Also a backstroker

Katie has a rather full schedule as she'll be tackling the 50m + 100m + 200m Fly races, besides potential relay selection at the discretion of the coaches!

The 2017 World University Games will be held @ Taoyuan City, Taiwan from 20-27 August.

Wow that was a quick turnaround for Katie (see social media below), considering it's prob. a 15+ hr flight...and whatever happened to training/staging camp?! (which may have taken place in SoCal actually)

Anyway, competition starts this Sunday morning, Taipei time. Waiting for SwimSwam & Swimming World to publish their previews, meanwhile here's the official site:

Haha just ignore/scratch my flippant comment above about Sarah not being here..."You know nothing, UAC" (sorry, watching GoT right now )

Cal student-athletes can be found at several events at the 2017 World University Games.

The Games, which hold their opening ceremonies Saturday, take place every two years in a different city. This year's event is being held in Taipei. It is open to student-athletes that have not been out of college for more than a year and are between the ages of 17 and 28.

As usual, the Golden Bears will be well-represented in the aquatic sports. Cal has seven swimmers and three water polo student-athletes competing. Former Cal volleyball student-athlete Jenelle Jordan is also on the roster for the U.S. team.

In the water, senior Justin Lynch and incoming freshman Sean Grieshop will compete for the United States. Lynch will swim the butterfly while Grieshop will compete in the individual medley. Recent graduate Long Gutierrez (butterfly, freestyle) and sophomore Andy Song (backstroke) will swim for Mexico while Pawel Sendyk competes in the freestyle for Poland. On the women's side, junior Katie McLaughlin will swim the butterfly for the United States while incoming freshman Sarah Darcel is slated to participate in the individual medley (for Canada).

In water polo, which began competing Friday, the Golden Bears have two student-athletes on the men's side and one with the women. Seniors Nicholas Carniglia and Conor Neumann are playing for the United States, and Cal assistant coach Jeff Tyrrell is serving as an assistant for Team USA. Recent graduate Stephanie Mutafyan is competing for the U.S. as well.

The Games run through Aug. 30.
