For the first three and a half games this year, the much-ballyhooed  Cal secondary had its troubles. The Bears were leaking yards and touchdowns through the air, and the defensive backs, expected to be one of the team’s strengths, were bearing the brunt of the criticism.

Then came the second half of the Washington game when things finally started to click for the Cal defense as a whole and the defensive backs as a unit.
