The Bears have been after a quartet of running backs all season long and finally got their man today with the commitment of Ben Davis (Indianapolis, Indiana) High School running back Johnny Adams this weekend on his official visit.

The 5-11/195 Adams rushed for 1,424 yards and 20 touchdowns in Ben Davis's 14-0 season, averaging 10.2 yards per carry.

Adams committed this morning via Twitter, saying:

"First off, I would like to thank all the Ball State coaches who recruited me and saw my talent. Also, I'd like to thank them for recognizing who I am as a person and it's been an honor to get to meet all of them and get to know the coaching staff.

"With that said, I'm announcing that I'm going to be decommitting from Ball State and committing to The University of Califoria to further both my academic and football career. I will be shutting down my recruitment, as well. Thank you to all the colleges who saw my talent and recognized me! Please respect my decision. Josua 1:9."

The athletic Adams sports a 4.51 forty and an impressive 42-inch vertical.

The Bears are now at 18 commits the 2018 class, with several slots still available.
