In an earlier post, I talked about the "Fernando Mendoza schism" and whether his development should be credited to high school, University of California, Berkeley, or Indiana University. Right now, a lot of people lean toward Indiana. But as I pointed out then, Mendoza spent four years at Cal and only a few months at Indiana. Over time, the narrative was always likely to shift back to Cal.
That shift is already happening.
Tonight on Fox Sports, during the 8:30 segment, the host asked Jack Cole "62, for his thoughts on Mendoza. The host even framed it by saying Mendoza is "so perfect" and challenged him to name something negative.
Cole, a Stanford graduate, immediately pivoted not to Indiana but to Cal criticism, labeling Mendoza in ideological terms as a communist and radical.
Yeah it was pretty bad. but thats not the point It's not just the criticism it's how quickly the media has already started identifying Mendoza primarily with Cal while barely mentioning Indiana at all as he didnt say one word about them.
Even critics are reinforcing the point: Mendoza is being defined as a Cal product. That's exactly what many of us expected, and it's becoming harder and harder to argue otherwise.

Mendoza enrolled at Cal in fall 2022, which means if he spent 4 years at Cal he should be graaduating this month.

He did digest four years worth of abuse, thanks to the porous Cal O line though.
So give Cal credit where credit is due!

Hats off to the guy for getting his Haas 4 year degree in 3 while on a FB scholie, that might have been his greatest achievement to date.

Did he get it in 3 or 2-1/2 years? Did he graduate in spring 2025 or fall 2024?

He claimed (or was claimed?) to have his Haas degree in December 2024 when he transferred to Indiana. That would be 2-1/2 years after coming to Cal and assuming he entered Haas as a Sophomore, only 3 semesters actually in Haas (plus one Summer?).

I read that Fernando came back in the spring to Cal, after his end of season transfer to Indiana, to finish his degree. He even paid his own way, as he surrendered his scholarship when he left. Still, pretty impressive to finish in three years, especially considering the amount of time he committed to football. He's a super smart kid, with amazing discipline and dedication.

Nando had a 4.7 high school GPA which indicates many/most of his classes were Advanced Placement. I am guessing he capitalized smartly on this by taking the AP tests and transferring those units so he started about a semester plus ahead of schedule. Cheers to him I am a Raider fan now because of him.

That sounds dubious. Im pretty sure he was enrolled in classes at Indiana. Moreover, how could he participate in Spring practice at Indiana if he was taking classes at Cal? Plus all the time he reportedly spent working out with his new WR corps? Maybe he was allowed to transfer business credits at Indiana for his Haas undergrad degree?

Cuban met Alberto who sat behind the Heat's bench? What?

"[Indiana athletic director Scott Dolson]'s like, we've got this quarterback that we really, really like that we think would be great in (coach Curt Cignetti's) system, we just need a little bit more," Cuban said. "I'm like, 'How much is a little bit?' And so he told me, and I'm like, 'OK, you know, we're on a roll, I'll put up the money to get this quarterback.'"

Yes, seems more likely than actually attending classes in Berkeley while enrolled (and taking at least the minimum number of classes) while playing football in Indiana.
