Traffic was one of my bands. Rare Rock/Jazz fusion. The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys album and/or long cuts from album were a staple at KSAN No Jive 95 FM. I never saw them live.

I'm not familiar with their later proggy material, the two songs above are my favorites from them out of their early register. Will check out the later (70s) albums.

Speaking of live 60s bands, the Zombies are still touring with most of the band intact, they did an excellent tour performing their classic Odessey and Oracle album about 5 years ago, really enjoyed that show. Looks like they were in CA only 2 months ago.

Winwood still has pipes for an OG!

This was Steve's first band, the Spencer Davis Group. He joined at age 16. The song, I'm a Man, was a HUGE hit in 1967 when I was in 7th grade.

He was also in a one and done (album) Super Group with Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker formerly of Cream

Saw Winwood live at Shoreline in either '87 or '88. Memory failing me on the year. Yes, he could sing then also. One of the best shows I saw at Shoreline. I was also only 7 rows from the stage. IIRC, he did some Traffic tunes that night also.

Edit: Looks like the show was 1986, and he opened with 'The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys', followed by 'Glad'. Also did 'I'm A Man', and 'Gimme Some Lovin'', by Spencer Davis Group.

This is a good compilation:

But you need to download this for sure:

My favorite Zombies song:

*How good does a song have to be that it is 60 years old and I remember every line of it, the music and still love it.

*Traffic was fully loaded when Dave Mason was a member. I did see him at Winterland during the peak of the Zebra Killings in the Fillmore District.

That is good stuff. How would you classify the genres? Jazz/Rap/R & B/ Soul Fusion? There is a lot going on there. You give me people playing instruments and good singers and I'm All In.
I was also getting a Gil Scott-Heron vibe from that too.

Miles got too crazy for me in the 1970's. I am more of a Kind of Blue era fan. Lots of insight into Miles in Cicely Tyson biography. She was married to him. I'm a Chet Baker fan too. Two biopics:

Chet had a heroin habit. He died falling out of his 2nd story hotel room window in Amsterdam in 1988 at age 58.

Big fan of Bobby Hutcherson, who I discovered listening to Bob Parlocha's Dinner Jazz program on KJAZ in the 80s. Bob was also a big fan of Bobby, whose vibraphone lends itself well to a mellow dinner aperitif vibe

The band gives neo soul vibes but the really lite skinned guy Mike Dean has produced some of his tracks and has also produced tracks for a long list of artists from different genres.

Historic Oakland Hills home built for jazz great Dave Brubeck being sold for $3M

Interesting cover of a Doors song that I Iove. Whatup with video? D's on bikes?

I saw Roxy Music as a warm up band at Winterland when I was at Cal. I didn't care for them because I wasn't into Glam Rock other than what Bowie and T-Rex were doing at the time.

The best warmup band I saw at Winterland, and by an exponential factor, was Frampton's Camel in 1973. Peter Frampton upstaged the main act, Johnny Winter……a few years later Frampton was selling out the LA Coliseum 3 days in a row, a 100,000 fans per show. The Frampton Comes Alive double album broke sales records….then a couple of years later his mega career was over because of drug addiction and being rushed by his record label to release half baked material.

Right on, Willie.

What made me think of that is that I just watched my DVR of Willie's 90th at Hollywood Bowl. It is worth watching. Never followed Sheryl Crow in her prime. Boy, is she talented….and she is one handsome 61 year old woman.

I then researched whether Willie is a nice person (because all the musicians seem to so highly regard him), and I found this:

"Fellow country star Kris Kristofferson tells Texas Monthly that out of all of the artists he knows, Nelson is the most comfortable around fans, and numerous family, friends and business acquaintances also attest that Nelson is incredibly personable, no matter who you are or where he is." *Keef played two songs with Willie

I was at this concert:

…They were touring in support of Misfits album.

I saw Ray Davies backed by a young band at Mountain Winery in 2012 and they banged out the Kinks hits real proper.

Seeing that Barry Gibb is being honored on the Kennedy Center Awards brought to mind that even as a young guy (in 1975), although this was not my type of music, I recognized this song as next level talent music writing and production of a song:

….he even wrote a couple of hit songs (and did backing vocals) for his mini me little brother, Andy.
