Breaking even at 4-4 last week but still barely over .500 for the year at 5-4. Link to last week is here: https://bearinsider.com/forums/2/topics/103399/replies
For this week, as usual odds are for the home team, my don't make a bit of sense selections in italics.

Cal @ TCU -9.5: Road game? Check. Godawful Texas heat and humidity? Check. Coming off disappointing opening game? Check. So going against all logic and picking Cal to beat the spread.

Rubber Duckies @ Ohio State -14: Both teams looked quite ordinary in their openers. Quackers look even more ordinary in this one. tOSU covers.

Texas A&M @ Colorado +17: Ralphie trampled all over Northern Colorado. Not happening this week. A&M covers.

Mutts @ Michigan -6: After getting eaten alive by Montana teddy bears, butt sniffers are mauled by wolverines. Michigan covers.

San Diego State @ Mildcats PK: Kittens gave BYU a bit more of a fight than expected. Don't see enough in them to beat the Aztecs. San Diego wins.

Mormon Marauders @ BYU +7: The annual observing those polite young Mormons turning into eye gouging, ball kicking, snarling, cussing, spitting heathens for the day. Taking the Utes to cover.

UNLV @ Spawn of Satan -33: Devil's Rejects will win easily but this spread is just too huge to cover.

Furd @ U$C -17.5: Tough one to call. Furd plain sucked their first game. Toejams won their game on talent, no thanks to Helton. But have to pick someone so going with the team with the one note band over the team with the band that sounds like a broken kazzoo. U$C covers.

Hawaii @ Rodents -11: Neither team is very good but Hawaii gets to go home to gorgeous scenery, beaches and perfect weather. No wonder they're rarely motivated while on the road. Taking the Beavers to cover in a sloppy game.

And in the road kill game of the week:

Portland State @ Wazzoo. Though after the Mutt's debacle don't take anything for chance.

4-4 last week. 5-4 overall.

The last time they played, TCU and Cal collectivey had more than 9.5 turnovers. Normally, I look at a big point spread against a good defensive team and take the defensive oriented team. But not in early September Texas heat. TCU and give points.

TOSU covers. I simply don't think the Pac is competitive with any good P5 school - UCLA may be the one exception.

Michigan and give points. I don't think Michigan is that good. If this game was up in Seattle I would take Washington. Udub is not as bad as Montana game indicates.

A&M and giving points. A&M is good enough to beat the point spread.

SDSU is having an interesting season playing home games in Carson. So traveling to UofA might as well be at home - 2 hours in traffic or 1.3 hour in plane. SDSU had a good defuse and mediocre offense. UofA looked decent against BYU. I'm flipping the the coin and taking SDSU.

Utah over BYU and giving 7 points. Over/under on how many BYU fans will have their faces pounded by Utah cheerleaders also is 7. Take the over.

UNLV and take points. Rereading makes more sense at 33 than 3. Herm looking to be seen as charitable calls off the dogs.

Furd and USC. That is a lot of points. Does Furd know who the first string QB even is for their first conference game? Taking SC until Furd gets its act together.

OSU and giving points. OSU played Purdue close and gets to go home. UCLA is good, but Hawaii also is a terrible away team.

5-3 last week. 5-4 overall

Cal+9.5 .. now up to 11.5 … 101 degrees in Texas … points to a TCU rout … I will take the bears +9.5 and they will have the lead in the 4th quarter

Oregon and 14.5 points .. their defense is good. Their coach sucks - they cover and might win

Just like Cal … why take UW?… it makes no sense …. But if the 4 receivers are back in the big house … take UW and the points they have a great defense and will be leading in the 4th quarter a a receiver for UW will make a big play in the 4th quarter.

A&M smokes Colorado.

Take Arizona / again why take Arizona? They will win

UNLV is horrible - ASU in a rout

Furd sucks / usc will kill them.

Nobody thinks Hawaii is any good - take hawaii - OSU … expects to walkover - not going to happen

So - what would a Oregon / Cal / Washington moneyline parley pay ?? Worth $20… if I could bet in California!!
I know cal is +340 on the moneyline, Oregon is +475 and Washington +220 … Washington would be the last game and you could hedge big time if Oregon and Cal win.

Last week I also went 4-4, so I'm 5-4 for the season. I think my picks are pretty much in line with what others are saying, to wit:

Cal to beat the spread.
Oregon falls short as OSU covers.
Colorado gets clobbered by the Aggies.
Washington falls short @ Michigan.
Arizona's woes continue as San Diego State wins.
Utah continues strong.
ASU wins, but UNLV keeps them from covering the spread.
USC pounds Stanford.
OSU wins, but Hawaii beats the spread.

Dismal 3-8 last week, dismal 3-9 overall. But ready to run the table this week! My picks:
Cal +9.5, no commentary needed as we've been in meltdown mode all week.
tOSU -14 Oregon good but not national elite
aTm -17 Colorado would need a lot more points than 17
Michigan -6 Surprised the spread is that low
SD State (PK)
Utah -7 to cover barely
UNLV +33 agree with Ursus that 33 points is too much to ignore
U$C -17.5 to win and cover
Rainbows +11 (Beavs to win but not cover)

4-4 last week, 5-4 if you include the gimme in week zero.
This is essentially a week of blow outs. Why? Because most of the less talented teams are also beat up. Furd, Oregon, UNLV and Colorado all have issues. The only close games will be Michigan/Washington and OSU/Hawaii. In those games, the better teams have injury problems. Here is how it stacks up for me:

Ohio St. 43-21
Texas A&M 31-0
Michigan 17-16, Washington beats the spread
San Diego St. 31-20 (mid-tier MWC> lower tier PAC-12)
Utah 33-14
ASU 55-10
OSU 27-21, Hawaii beats the spread
USC 37-10 (both teams are banged up but the injuries are much more impactful for Furd, who is much less deep than USC)
TCU 30-14

You didn't pick the Utah vs. BYU game. You still can if you want.

It's a good thing I don't bet on sports. I'd be broke and homeless just from this week alone.
