Enwere appears to not like Wilcox. Not sure the reason. Laird did appear to jump Enwere on the depth chart early in the season.

It wasn't that early and I doubt it was Wilcox's decision.

Does he think Wilcox is going to Oregon? Wait til he finds out it was only an interview.

he's been upset with the coaching staff for a long time but hasn't said explicitly what his problem is

From past tweets, he's clearly referring to Wilcox. Don't know why, though.

Enwere's last season at Cal, he wasn't used all that much. I forget if he was dinged up, or what. Maybe just Laird was having a great season. Honestly, he really comes across as petty with all these vague hints over social media. Whether he may have a valid point or not, this makes him look worse, not the other party (whomever that may be). Maybe there are select people out there that know the situation that might be saying, "Yeah, you go, Vic!", but everybody else, tons more people, are thinking...

Grow up, dude.

The funny thing is he was a part time starter under Dykes, then he was dinged up Lair took over the starting job. I think there were as many carries available to others as were earned.

He got passed by Laird who now plays in the League. Enwere just looks bitter.

I don't hate Enwere but he was ran like a power back with no power. Maybe others can back this up or have a different take but I remember him getting stuffed a lot. Unfortunately I can blame the offensive line at the time, they were terrible at run blocking. Laird's running style let him fit in smaller holes and get outside the tackle.

he just has made these vague posts over the years that strike me as bitter. it's kind of like "vaguebooking" but with a negative, gossipy tone. wish he would air the dirty laundry or cut out the vague posting.

To be clear I like and respect Enwere as a Cal Bear and Football player. Just don't believe innuendo about a former coach serve comes across as self-serving.

Agreed. Though that was only under Baldwin. His YPC:
2014 5.7 YPC
2015 4.8 YPC
2016 5.5 YPC
2017 3.7 YPC

Later Brown, another big back, had the same issue under Baldwin:
2018 4.0 YPC
2019 4.4 YPC
2020 3.1 YPC
2021 5.2 YPC

So he got an upgrade in OC, changed his name to Brooks and looked like a world beater.

However, we don't know what Enwere's issue is. People are just speculating that it is playing time, though Enwere leaves himself open to speculation due to his innuendo.

You think Wilcox, especially in his first month as a HC, dictated to his OC and his RB coach who should start at RB?

Yes. The head coach is ultimately responsible for who plays. Whether or not Enwere played is on Wilcox. These decisions are made based on practice and meetings. They are not made on a whim. They are made following discussions among the coaches with the head coach making the final call if there is a disagreement.

There is a reason the head guy make $4 million and the top assts. make less than 25% of that amount.

Tedford used to say Gould made the decision about starting and subbing RBs.

I agree the HC is ultimately responsible.

I guess it kinda helps when you have the talent that Gould had during his time working with JT….

Enwere's problem is he's not very good.
Most program's wouldn't have given him the time of day and didn't.
Dykes, having an infatuation with all things Texas, took a shot on him.
I thought he was over-rated at Cal and should not have ever started over Watson.
But he did have that amazing run on 3rd and long that went for like 30+ to keep Cal alive one time. I think Cal was backed up on their own goal line at the time. Then there was also the run against Texas to run out the clock where he fumbled by celebrating his TD a little early. Good thing the officials played it by the book. Otherwise we might have lost that game because of Enwere.

If he resents Wilcox because he benched him in favor of a back with better speed then that is pretty lame. Enwere wasn't going anywhere anyway. And good for Wilcox. Enwere should never have been a starter.

I liked Enwere from the get go as a freshman and throughout his time at Cal. I can still see him fighting for extra yards and getting them against a Mariota led Oregon team at Levi's Stadium. I don't know what the issue is for him but he put in the work, showed up, never loafed and did some very good things. He still loves Cal according to his tweet, just not the guy with the headset. I wish Vic all the best.

Exactly, and until I know what his issue is with Wilcox I will not judge him for it one way or the other. I've seen him speak extensively in videos and he is a level headed, smart, reasonable guy. Moreover, he is an alum, a fellow Bear. I'll withhold judgement.

I'm sure he meant Legal Studies and probably said "law degree" as not many outside of Cal would know about that major.

I did the core 100 Legal Studies class with the infamous Philippe Nonet, who tried to mind f undergrads with a hard core version of the Socratic Method. He would embarrass 1-2 students each session. I look back and think he may have been trying to signal to us not to enter the legal profession. Maybe I should have taken that to heart lol.

Of course he knows the distinction. It was on purpose. No one accidentally mixes up a legal studies degree with a law degree if you graduated in legal studies. That's just him trying to make himself look good. It's stupid.

Of course. Plus, anybody who keeps airing some vague beef with someone over social media is lame. Looks really petty. Move on with your life. Or, if it's something super-important, address it directly.

There are certain ways to voice grievances but I think this isnt the best way. W/o coming straight out and saying what the problem us/was. Can coach or maybe an assistant AD call him and DA to squash this ?

To squash it? That is even more inappropriate. It is his Twitter, he hasn't actually made any accusations. If Wilcox wants to call Enwere to hash it out, that is up to him. Until there is something substantive I suggest we just ignore it. Enwere's beef might be valid, even serious, or it might be frivolous and petty. Speculating one way or the other is pointless.
