His comments about needing guardrails is dead on. My take is that with guardrails, most of the changes likely would be acceptable to most fans

Yeah, that has been my critique of the NCAA in general. Because they faced legal challenges they decided to throw up their hands and walk away from any sort of attempt at guardrails. And, yeah, the toothpaste is not going back in the tube. I don't believe any excuse that they didn't see this coming will be taken seriously. The writing has been on the wall for nearly half a century that monied interests would take over and exploit whatever freedoms exist. Aiken's spot on that this is so very corrosive to the well being of young people because of the libertarian way that the NCAA has administered the sport.
