There is an article out there with Utahs' AD talking about how a NIL was poaching one of their players with a million dollar offer.

This NIL thing has become ridiculous and would be the reason i stopped watching college football. Theres no regulation and instead of getting them paid by businesses, its a redirect for boosters to get their favorite athlete.

How much do you think Ott is getting right now? Phone must be blowing up with 250k , 500k offers at least right?

The stakes are too high we can't waste the next 6 games, hopeful for some additional news to fix playcalling because our coaches are in over their head.

Not just Ott - Hunter and Sturdivant could be targeted by other schools. And for them, it may not be just NIL$, but a team with an offensive line that will allow them to show off their skills - holes for running or giving a QB time to throw to them.

And if they feel they have a real shot at the NFL, they are also offering the opportunity to substitute hard classwork for practice and training in their prospective profession.

I do feel college football over-corrected a bit, and needs to steer back a bit (not all the way). I'd imagine some rules get introduced in the next five years to help this.

Just add Clemson, Notre Dame, Ohio State, $c and a few others to the SEC and let them go absolutely crazy to become the Pro Division. Let every other college continue a more tame College Division.

It doesn't work like that. Colleges and the NCAA cannot regulate their NIL.

They had literally decades to come to a middle ground that would have kept the proverbial peace. Instead they fought like hell. Remember Jeremy Bloom? They forced players' hands and now we are left with this. What a massive eff up.

I do wonder if they can reinstate the transfer, 1 year sit out rule. That is probably the only way to stem the tide.

This whole thing makes me sick to my stomach.

If NIL continues unchecked, Cal and schools like us will go from having a .1% chance at a BCS bowl to a literal 0% chance. At that point, the shred of hope that keeps me interested and invested each year will disappear, along with my interest in Cal and college football overall.
