Years ago there was talk that during a Cal band formation of the Cal script at Stanfurd, at the end of the song, each band member was to drop the contents of a little bag of poppy seeds where they were.
The theory was that the poppies would grow during the off season and Furd would have to leave them in place because it was illegal to harm the state flower and an orange script Cal would adorn their football field.
Obviously that script Cal never materialized, but did the band actually do that? Any band members know?
Or was that just the equivalent of an internet meme before there was an internet?
