I did some Googling, and couldn't find an answer...it's his mother's last name from what I found.
Vic didn't have a ton of kids(1), but listed as having 7 grandkids....so I guess the most direct route would be for this to be one of the Grandkids' kids, if my math is right...
Would be a heck of a story if it was...

I saw Vic described as Luke's "4th Uncle". Vic had 2 brothers and a sister. I suspect that Luke is a great grandson (or maybe Grandson) of one of Vic's brothers.

Very cool to have another Bottari at Cal. In addition to being a heck of a football player (an All-American and "the scoring hero of Cal's last Rose Bowl win") Vic looks like a movie star in this photo.

He's from the Bay Area, only has to pay instate tuition a year or two but will get a Cal undergraduate degree and possibly a Cal grad certificate.

Well he's about 4 inches taller than Bryce Young, right?

Have you found out what the relationship is exactly? A great nephew as suggested above, or something else? He might never see a single snap, but still, such great roots....
