Sounds about right for year 7 in your tenure. We're building something big.

sagarin is a bit kinder, but still not 35-50

http://sagarin.com/sports/cfsend.htm

our frankly lackluster performance at home last Sat did nothing for our standing

oh well, we still might be the best 4-8 team in the country YAY

Maybe one day Cal will have the resources of those powerhouse programs like Oregon State, Washington State, Duke, Fresno State, etc. but until then, we should be celebrating 70th place and 3 to 5 win Wilcox seasons. At least, that's what I keep reading on this Board!

Meanwhile you should always attend every game, donate to the athletic program, and if you express any negativity then you are not a true Cal fan!

While we're discussing random rankings, if you go by the Colley Index we're #52 and above #54 LSU, #55 Clemson, #60 Auburn, #61 Florida, #62 TCU, Though notably we are behind #16 James Madison and #18 Liberty.

Are you referring to expressing exaggerated negativity on an hourly basis? Who was it that said we likely won't win another game prior to beating ASU?

Who are you talking about? I've been consistently predicting a 3-9 or 4-8 season since early into the off season. You perceive my posts as negative, but have any of my points been proven wrong?

Wilcox is as terrible of a HC as ever. SJV is not the second coming of Kyler Murray. Spav can't magically turn the offense into the 2017 Cal offense. Our portal acquisitions did not in fact move the needle given the improvements across all other PAC programs.

You said that if you expressed negativity than you are accused here of not being a true fan. That's blatantly false. I am merely pointing out the difference between expressing any negativity and constantly expressing exaggerated negativity such as saying 'Wilcox is as terrible as a HC as ever.'. Get it? You seem to post hyperbole regularly.

I don't think expressing some truth isn't "exaggerated negativity". And its not hyperbole to suggest or predict that we will likely go 4-8 - tops. Some posters come on here and complain about the crowd, the start times of the games, donate, and do what "true Cal fans" do. Isn't that hyperbole as well?

I browse through these threads somewhat regularly. Doubtfulbear has made at least 50 negative comments since the season started and outside of game threads about our Cal football program, often exaggerating. It is probably 100+. For him to complain that any negativity is met with 'you are not a true fan,' is pretty ridiculous.

In The Athletic's latest rankings, we climbed from 50th to... 49th! I guess that 3-2 record looks pretty impressive.

ASU however, dropped from 93rd to 95th (the "You lost to Cal?" effect).

Furd is now in triple digits, going from 96th to 102nd! I attribute this to them looking so damned tough in their black uniforms against the Ducks!

I didn't really have to stalk, as you claimed repeatedly that Cal would not get into another major conference. It's okay to admit you were wrong about that. It doesn't mean all our problems are solved.
On a spectrum between joining the B1G and joining the MWC, our pathetic 30% share in the ACC is much closer to the latter than the former.

We likely would have had a similarly reduced share in the B1G if we'd gotten in there. Regardless, you thought we'd have no spot in the power conferences and actually we do. You were wrong.
Being in a conference with regional teams and some of the best programs in college football is a far cry from being in a conference 3 time zones away with the top programs desperately trying to get out. I am wrong because reality is only 10% better than the worst possible outcome?
