From what I read, it didn't sound like a fluke either. We just outplayed one of Cricket's historic powers in an important tournament. The US team is now well positioned to advance from the group stage into the final 8. It was a tough group with Pakistan and India too - the group of death to my poorly informed eyes. Amazing!

One of the best games I've ever watched. Played so well for most of the match, fell apart towards the end, somehow got the 11 from 3 they needed to tie the match, and Pakistan just fell apart during the Super Over.

I recognize that all the words you used are English, and they are used in proper sentences.

I have no idea what anything you wrote means. Other than "Great game! USA! USA!"

I must be dreaming. We are building on People's Park and I actually 100% agree with one of your posts. I should go buy 100 shares of GameStop.

Any football or baseball fan can pick up cricket pretty fast.

I went to an England/Sri Lanka match in Leeds in 2019. It was great! We got there an hour late, watched 4 or 5 hours, the beer flowed freely, and left while Sri Lanka was 'batting'. Had the game mostly figured out in an hour or so.

England was also hilariously cocky, with fans near us dismissing the match as a formality. However, Englands total ended up quite a bit lower than the fans near us predicted, and even to my untrained eyes seemed to notice they seemed to be going through batters pretty quick.

Long story short, Sri Lanka hadn't quite taken the lead by the time we left but they would soon thereafter. It was a huge upset and English fans on the train were very, very sad.

Cricket is right up there with the opium trade and engineered mass famines as far as the worst aspects of British colonialism.

I'd say the golden triangle was more impactful - and other colonial powers got in on the act, too.

I'd put gunboat diplomacy and warfare started against peaceful trade partners in order to gain an economic advantage up there, too.

When n English friend of mine opines on how racist American history has been, I remind him who set the example for us.

And my Irish wife laughs.

Clearly, you haven't sat through a cricket game, after a few innings the Royal Navy cannons would be a relief.

And the British copied the Africans who were enslaving their own before the British got there.

Meanwhile, many Irish profited from the Atlantic slave trade. They should know since their ancestors made Dublin a major slave trading center in western Europe during the medieval years.
