how we upgraded our kicker and wouldn't miss the guy who was 8-9 last year. Ridiculous.

To be in the Top 1% of all NIL collectives we only need around 10% of alumni to give $300 per year. Please help spread the word. "If we don't broaden this base we're dead." - Sebastabear

Still early. The 1st one was at a bad angle and the 2nd was 53? yards.

The first he should have made, the second is 50/50 at best for any kicker in the country

So far in 2024 sixteen kickers have made FG of 50 yds or longer. Seven of those were from 53 or longer, and of those 7 five have not yet missed a FG attempt. The long so far is 59 yds by Ryan Fitzgerald who is 4-4 overall on the year. He kicks for FSU, our opponent in 2 weeks.

Last year's guy may have been 8-9 (I'll take your word for it), but we wouldn't even try anything 45 yds or more because it was outside his range. Six inches on the first one today and three feet on the second one and this thread doesn't exist.

That's funny, I had the complete opposite reaction. The first kick he missed, ok. Small sample size, hostile environment, first kick with a new team went off the upright. Not great, but it happens. Second one was a tense moment of the game, 88+k fans in full uproar, 55 yards out and he barely pushed it. That one made me say "ok, once he gets his bearing he's gonna be great". Look how many NFL kickers got cut by a franchise after 3-4 misses and became studs for other teams (Folk, Gould, etc.)

He barely missed from 55 in about as rough a situation as you'll find, if he makes a big one at home I'm willing to bet he becomes pretty much automatic from then out

Don't take my word for it:

Individual -> Special Teams -> Kicking

this is exactly my take as well. in my 20+ years of fandom we have never had a kicker who has the legs to consistently get 50 yards

50 yarders are even hard for the pros. justin tucker makes slightly more than half

Coe has the leg. even in the miss the distance was a non issue. we now have a kid who lets us try those FGs when we are in no mans land. with the way our D is playing. this is huge for those 4th and 5 and 4th and 7 at the 35. this kid will be a weapon for us this year
