wouldn't it be great to win all the time or at least the vast majority of the time? Well, having spent a good deal of time in the deep south on business, there's a different mind set that goes on there. To them, the next game and the game after are ho hum considerations, because these games are almost foregone conclusions and don't merit a lot of energy. What to do? that's why tailgating is so big. the fun is before the game. then, is it kickoff time yet? ok, let's go in and see it. they have other things, too, like cutting deals, but the point is that the week long handwringing is saved for the 2 or 3 big games in the season. the rest need another attraction to keep the fans in the moment.

I've asked a few about that and they admit that having more games that are competitive might add excitement, but it beats the alternative. As for me, I'd like a few more wins, thank you very much.
