Before the season started there were some predicting 10-2, etc

My guess was 6-6 with a shot at 7-5, i had faith that jw would underperform

So jw met expectations, can we expect jk to give him a raise

To me, Wilcox did not meet expectations which was 7 or 8 games. Not only that, the way he lost the games proves he is not the coach we need. If I had $15 million I'd offer it up, but I dont, and so I can just express my opinion which is:

Cal football would be better off without Justin Wilcox as the head coach.

As a very wise man once wrote about minor league professional football, "There is no salary cap."

I also predicted 6-6 so he met my expectations as well.

If there's one thing I've learned from 15+ years of managing and hiring/firing people, it's that a tiger can't change its stripes. If someone is inherently not competent enough to perform a job, no amount of additional resources or support will change that.

This 1000%. My experience as well. Once you identify they are not competent they must be removed.

Only at Cal would someone identified as not competent receive a 6-year $30M guaranteed extension.

"Only at Cal"?

Do tell.

Uh OK.

After his first five years JW had compiled a 15-25 conference record (proving that he was not competent to lead this team).

At that point JK rewarded him with a 6 year $30M guaranteed extension.

This has never happened in the history of college football.

Hence, "Only at Cal".

So, now you are limiting your statement to football coaches in the minor leagues with specific win/loss records? Does aTm ring a bell. Different numbers, same stupid.

Yes it does ring a bell, and thank you for strengthening my point. Jimbo signed his extension after four years at A & M (with a 21-12 conference record in the SEC) and there was a legitimate chance that LSU was going to poach him.

If you don't see the difference in stupid between these situations I don't know what to tell you.

I'm not saying that there haven't been bad extensions in the history of college football, just that there hasn't been one as stupid as JW's.

I stand by my original statement that no coach has gotten as extension like this after posting a .375 conference winning percentage.

there's a difference between prediction and expectation. I predicted 7-5. My expectations were and are for much more. We had a top ten rb, an improving young qb, portal adds to the OL and DL, some top db's, and a boatload of really good wr's bolstered by 2 top guys, ditto the lb's. Thus, my expectations for a good season.

what happened? a hc who shoots for one td per quarter or 4td's per game and holding the opponents to 3. how can you win with a hc who even thinks like that?Let him coach the chess team. this here's football, tackle football.

but, we must replace Knowlton first, otherwise, we'll just have JW 2.0.
