We came into the day with 14 commitments, half of them are already signed at 7:30a PST and we picked up another commitment from a promising Juco OLB. All done unless there's any potential late commitments or flips (Justin Hasenhuetl is visiting Virginia Tech next weekend so no decision expected today).

Final tally: 14 commits coming into today, and 14 signings after the day is up. We lost JKS and picked up Okaka. Not the best day but not the worst, at least we didn't have 2-3 flips to LSJU like we'd have under Dykes. Maybe they have a couple late additions who could be promising like Hasenhuetl in the works and other than that it's hitting the portal for established talent again while, hopefully, developing our guys and upgrading the staff

You can't blame the kid considering Wilcox has done nothing to sell the program to elite recruits, especially QBs and nikeU is having an undefeated season and has been a contending program lately. But this one still hurts, way more than the other flips and late misses at QB. At a certain point you have to look at the recent history of misses we have (Miller Moss, Jaden Rashada, Justyn Martin, and now JKS) and it's clear that a history of putting QBs into the league and on to super bowls means nothing to these guys next to the current state of the offense. We need to build that back up if we want any premier talents to buy what we're selling

whatever - i know he's an elite11 w/ a rising stock but QBs out of HS are tough to predict.

Justyn Martin who backed out and went to ucla 3(?) yrs ago comes to mind. don't think he's played for the bruins.

don't blame him. tough to argue w/ oregon these days. just pretty clear evidence that although NIL/portal/etc is a little good for Cal, its also moved Oregon into a league we will never, ever approach

And, of course, "The Great" Jaden '10 Schools' Rashada.

He wasn't starting next season, and there will be loads of QB available via the portal in the coming years. More immediate needs in other areas, and potentially more NIL money available now to address them. Stings to lose a top-rated recruit, but it really doesn't impact the program much in the new world of NIL and portal transfers.

Well, at least there will be two former 4 or 5-star QB recruits from Oregon in the portal for Cal to go after for the next several years.

Cal needs a new head coach and AD.

No quarterback is looking at that offensive line and saying yeah I wanna get sacked 50 times a season. My argument has always been the same. You need lineman nothing else.
