I'm not saying the complaints aren't valid, but today was the most ideal date for the championship game.

1) The Heisman ceremony weekend (December 14) is a chance for students to catch up on their school and finals. Also, that's the Army-Navy's exclusive weekend. So you would have to boot the Heisman and Army-Navy game.

2) The title game has to be held on a night when the NFL doesn't play and on a night when people have to work the next day, so that rules out Friday. And NFL owns Saturdays from late December to mid-January.

3) There has to at least be a week between games.


So under your plan for next season:

1. The regular season ends the weekend before Thanksgiving.

2. The conference championships are played Thanksgiving Weekend.

3. Here's the thing: The playoff bracket will be set later in the day on Sunday, November 30 and the first game played 5 days later, on Friday, December 5, with the other 3 games played on Saturday, December 6. That would seem to be a short amount of time to put together the logistics of hosting games on campus.

4. Round 2 of the playoffs would have to be 1 game on Friday, December 12 and 3 games on Saturday December 13. And the Heisman Ceremony would have to be bumped. (I don't know if there is a contract that the ceremony has to be on ESPN at 8 pm.)

5. Round 3 on Friday, December, 19 and Saturday, December 20. But the NFL will play 2 games on Saturday, December 20. So that's where it could get dicey.

6. Title game on Thursday, January 1. But here's the thing: the National Championship Game has to be in primetime, so it can't be the Rose Bowl. But the Rose Bowl begins at 2 pm PT and ends close to 6 pm PT. So the title game will have to begin at least at 5:45 pm PT. That would end it around midnight ET or later.

I don't think anyone wants to see another back-and-forth political diatribe on these boards since it's not particularly useful for anyone, but I would like to make one point and then drop out of this thread. Over the past eight years, conservatives believe politics were injected far too much into sports/entertainment with the majority of the coverage generally anti-Trump and anti-conservative issues. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, maybe, just maybe (please, oh, please!), everyone can agree we'd like more sports and entertainment in our leisure activities and less political positioning/messaging? I am 100% for that!

I'd like to see an example of Biden appearing in the middle of any sporting event, with the exception of the idiotically required appearance on the Super Bowl pregame show, which only started as a political segment with Bill-O and Faux News.
