"No. 11 Mississippi (10-3), which closed with an impressive Gator Bowl win over Duke, and No. 13 BYU (11-2), which routed Colorado in the Alamo Bowl, were ranked ahead of two playoff teams from the ACC, SMU and Clemson."

I agree. I still can't understand the promotion of Boise St (and their bye) over our ACC playoff teams.

SMU was blown out in their playoff game. They were really bad in the first half of that game and in the first half of the ACC title game. That's why they are 12th.

Compare them to ASU, who won the Big 12 title game and went to OT in their playoff game (could have won it, too, except that the refs let Texas get away with targeting on a play near the end of the 4th quarter).

I really enjoyed the fact that not one of the top four teams made it to the championship game.

same refs let ASU get away with an even more egregious (sp??) targeting just a few plays before on the interception play...
