Instead of the incessant "Fire Wilcox" threads, how about a discussion on the CFP bracket? Personally, hate to see so many SEC teams in the mix, but hard to argue with the rankings. Who do you think should be in and who should be out?

I think if Oregon loses to SC, they are out.
Miami (miraculously) is in on the basis of mostly beating Notre Dame despite two losses in a crappy conference. If GaTech wins out, Miami falls out

The playoff is basically fair. None of the ACC teams have particularly distinguished themselves this year, so it being a one-bid league is fine.

Miami is in the Sagarin top 10 (currently #9) and could be worthy of an at large bid should they not get the automatic berth provided they stay there.

. If Miami and Virginia tech win, the ACC has a shot at two in the playoffs, which will be good for revenue. Miami does not make the Cinference champ game of the other two win out. So they could most likely get an at large bid. Particularly if ND wins out which they will. If G Tech or. Virginia loses, then we are a one team cinference.sycasey said:Cal88 said:sycasey said:

Miami is the only team with an argument for making it as an at-large. But they took two losses in conference so it will be tough.

Any thoughts on JMU? One loss is to Louisville, play the cougs this week.
Anecdotally, drove by their stadium (had no clue where JMU actually was). Beautiful setting and venue.
SMU did the acc no favors last year and is arguably weaker this year

Agree. Their big win was ND at home by 3 in August, fifth in their own conference.
their best shot is that the beat the team 5 spots ahead of them and have the same record. ND lost to Texas who is not great and to Miami…who apparently is not great? The head of the committee basically said if Miami wins out they would have to deal with that issue. Head to head should matter. The lack of marquee names in the ACC this year hurts. But I still think Miami has a chance if they win out over someone. A lot of the top 12 will lose in the next three weekends. Miami has a fairly easy schedule left.calumnus said:Anarchistbear said:JB was a Chieftain said:

They are also state champ, beating Florida, South Florida and Florida State, which is admittedly was not as tough to do this year. I guess their best shot is if they play in and win the ACC Championship Game?

The only problem with the playoff is the size of the field which will be corrected in future seasons, which could not be said for the BCS which needed non-stop tweaking from its inception

The playoff has many more problems than that my friend.
1. It killed the regular season which was the best regular season in sports
2. It is killing traditional rivalries.
3. It lead to the ridiculous conference alignments.
4. It allows the power schools and power conferences to exert their power over the other schools in a way that benefits them.
5. It made all the bowl games meaningless.

Acc may get shut out if Duke wins and JMU slides in with Tulane. At least Booger had this.
