Did any of the portal losses have good seasons at their new schools?

I can't point to a single portal transfer that had a better season at their new school than they had at Cal last year. Many times the grass isn't greener on the other side.

They didn't, but that is not the reason we only had 12 yards rushing tonight

Mendoza will win the Heisman.

I meant to say other than Mendoza. Oops!

We know he is the exception, plus Mateen Baghani has had an excellent career down in Westwood

Isn't this his second season at UCLA? I was referring to the WRs, RBs and TE transfers.

Yeah but over the last few years of defections he stands out as an impact player that would have made the last few seasons for us dramatically different, he is worth a mention in that regard

Many times the player who leaves is not that good. Which means we more likely didn't have great players who left, they were just the most marketable ones that we had. The best of an avg bunch. As for Mendoza I think several qbs could have succeeded in IUs offense. Good for him he didn't screw it up.

Yes, but that doesn't mean they weren't our best players and wouldn't make us better.

24 catches for 218 yards. Stats way down from Cal last year.

Hard to say on Jack E. Clearly catching fewer passes than at Cal. Texas TE does more blocking. That might be valued in the NFL. At Texas he is the starting TE on a top 20 team, playing before packed stadiums and on national TV almost every week. Might not make the final 12 teams this year, but will be in the mix next year. And gets paid $500K a year at Texas. Doubt he has any regrets leaving Cal, but he may wish he had joined Mendoza at IU!

Exactly. Our players left for teams in the B1G and SEC where they competed and shared time with other top players. They did not leave for PT or even more money.

Meanwhile we started two guys from FCS Idaho, a former Cal walk on, and our best (almost only) WR is a 5'6" guy who was UNLV's #2 guy last year and was know primarily as a kick returner.
