One of my favorite Bears, who clearly put academics ahead of football (I vaguely remember him declining attending NFL camps to go for a masters degree). Anyone know if he did become an engineer after all? Or did he pursue professional football?

Yep I remember he was an associate engineering at some firm in they city or south bay like 3 years ago. But then I lost touch with him. I was trying to get him to come talk to the alums out here when he would visit Hawaii (he went to Iolani HS).

I checked the state licensing website. Igber's not yet a licensed engineer. The licensing exam can be taken two years after graduation. However, many folks need three or four attempts to pass the test, so he could still be trying.

Also, a license isn't required to advance in some disciplines. However, I remember Igber being a civll engineer and a license is a virtual necessity for a career in civil engineering.
