I understand that some lots at UNR are for season ticket holders only....

Given that Cal fans don't really get to tailgate en mass (ex-stanford) and that there will be loads of folks road-tripping I wanted to ask if anyone knows anything about the parking situation @ UNR.

Here is a link to the parking map...

Apparently the "free parking" is in a garage...which would suck for tailgating.

There appear to be two other areas...would be cool if Bear fans could agree on a lot and try and create a sort of a giant contiguous area of bear fans.

Anyone have any insight into the tailgating situation?

Great idea If someone can narrow down the parking sites. I would not mind paying to park if it would allow for tailgating. Also great if someone could provide a Google Earth link to see the site.

I usually go to the UCLA games in Pasadena - love the pre-game atmosphere of all the Cal fans in the parking lot. Even better after the game (assuming Cal wins).

Just park the beast any damn place you want and make it your space. Seriously, place holds just under 30k, how hard can it really be?

At 4th or 5th and Virginia. It's the best taqueria in town, much better than anything in Berkeley (rivals the SF Mission, might even be better than that!), worth going to once during your visit to Reno IMO.

According to the parking map all of the Orange parking is free and designated for tailgating. Probably means no tailgating in the free garage.

It would be great if we designated one of the orange parking areas as Bear Terriory for the day.

Looks semi-organized. From the UNR athletic website -
"Tailgating is permitted on all surface parking lots around Mackay Stadium on days of home football games. Tailgating is not permitted in the parking structures on the campus (West Stadium Parking Complex or Brian Whalen Garage). Tailgating is not permitted south of the Brian Whalen Garage. Fans will be permitted one space to park their vehicle for tailgating.

Parking lots open four hours prior to kickoff for tailgating. No kegs or party balls are permitted in tailgating areas at any time. Fans are encouraged to barbeque and enjoy the game-day experience, however, it is the responsibility of our fans to dispose of used charcoal properly. Hot coals are not to be put in trash cans, on grass areas or on the pavement in the parking/tailgating areas.

No drinking games of any kind are allowed in the tailgate area.

Tailgating will conclude at kickoff. If tailgaters do not go into the stadium to cheer on the Wolf Pack, they will be asked politely to leave the tailgating area at that time. Fans are asked to do their part and clean up their tailgating area prior to going home after the football game.

Portable restroom facilities are located in all parking areas around Mackay Stadium. Disabled patron portable restroom facilities are located in the Legacy Hall Parking Lot and the Student Tailgate areas.

Please contact Meredith Montoya at (775) 682-6905 to reserve a tailgate spot with a tent, tables and chairs and to learn about group ticket opportunities."
