What did the thread contain?

To make a long story short: rumors and insults and stupidity, oh my.

looked at the last 3-4 pages and saw nothing that was worth the effort. care to enlighten?

Volunteer and Gator posters are going to the end of the earth to prove that this prospect is going to announce for their school tomorrow. They have resorted to name-calling and illogical reasoning to justify rumors and hearsay. I know we're rivals, but intelligent men should be able to put their feelings about the other school aside and search for facts. Granted, you'll never know when it comes to recruiting, but judgments should be made through interpretation of facts you do have as well as their feasibility, and not by verbal insults and arrogance.

Does that make sense?

I know you all might not have a lot of interest, but my point is that there is a lot of stupidity going on on that board right now.

With all due respect to your Volunteers, we don't really need to read that to know that many SEC posters (as mentioned in numerous threads to which you have agreed) are known for their bitter, vitriolic, hateful and inane message board behavior.....yes, we do it too at times but rarely in the volume and magnitude that happens over there....in fact, I would be shocked to read otherwise....usually when they have Epiphanies, it is about eating non-fried entree's for a change.... I do think it is worse the farther south you go....in a way I understand it because college football is more of a cultural constant with few peers

Well, when you say it like that, it makes them sound like awful people. However, you are right. I must say that I am really very embarrassed by their behavior; it just proves that they have no self-respect and no concept of decorum.

Football in the South is such a big deal, the fortunes of everyday citizens for the next week are determined by whether or not their team wins on Saturday. Still, it offers no justification for their behavior, which I believe is motivated by elitism and, as you said, vitriol, for others. Their "fanhood" is driven by misplaced pride and paranoia.

The difference is that we have many different threads dedicated to different players. I would imagine that we spent quite a few pages on Moala during his recruitment. But yes SEC fans get annoying at times.

You sound like you are in some SEC recovering addiction program.

The point was to point out a small example of what appears to be the same argument that is being made about SEC fans. It appears that in that one thread, Volunteer and Gator fans are at each others' throats' over the college destination of a 17-18-year-old kid who happens to have five stars by his name.

I don't really know how best to answer that. I haven't been on here long enough to make any judgments about this board. I guess that will come in time, won't it?
