yeah....I couldn't believe that....more time to think is never good....I would be so ticked off if I were an ASU fan...for the most part, ASU has outplayed Missouri but so many times they kept them in the game with dumba$$ penalties...especially the 3rd and long penalties for an auto first down.....that is so undisciplined..and they were the same last year....

With Osweiler they are more dangerous, and earlier in the game I thought "Cal is in trouble this year," but the penalties are a reminder that this is just another Dennis Erickson team, so I'm less fearful of this road game.

All Dennis Erickson teams are undisciplined.

that consistent fly sweep motion looks like it can be dangerous for a number of reasons. like Arena League football, it gets the player going before the ball is snapped, giving them momentum and getting them to the outside potentially faster than the defense can react. it is also distracting. needless to say, the defense is gonna have to be really good at holding their assignments when we play them. on a positive note, in general it looks like this offense can stall very badly at times with worthless runs right into the teeth of the line and if the coverage downfield is good enough to make osweiler miss.

ASU is really sloppy, possibly even worse than last year's undisciplined group. along with all the losses they sustained, particularly on defense, this offseason (major injuries to Magee, Bolden, Simpson, Brooks, Lewis), this could derail what had the potential to be a really good season for them, including being the top contender to emerge from the south division of the Pac12 with USC on probation.

observations pertaining to recruits:
- I find it really hard to believe that Byron Marshall is gonna have any legitimate interest in playing in this offensive system with the less effective use of the RB. despite his comments, his brother's presence must be the only thing keeping him interested in the ASU program based on what they're showing.
- Richard Smith and the other Long Beach Poly kids (that upset Shaq Thompson's Grant this last weekend) could be really dangerous in these schemes. Smith is very fast and elusive, and ASU picked up commitments from some really athletic linebackers from CA as well in Mendoza, Dozier, Rowe and Fiso. ASU could very well become Linebacker U if this keeps up

I wouldn't mind playing ASU twice this year. Osweiler looked surprisingly good.

I have no idea why Pinkel called two time outs. Maybe the kicker sucked and would have missed anyway.

coming into the game the kicker had only missed 3 FGs in around 50 attempts, with a career long of 54. we're talking one of the most reliable kickers in the entire country. for some reason he really didn't like playing in Tempe, cause he missed 2 kicks last night.

the kid is only a sophomore and has an extremely bright future, but calling those two time outs is absolutely inexplicable. i would love to see his response in the news conference if there is footage of it, cause that was without a doubt one of the most important questions the media would've wanted answers to from the game.
