Is this good enough or not.....I thought everybody, including myself, was touting Cal's super defense........in fairness to Cal'sdefense, I bet they never thought their offense and ST units would be their biggest opponent?

Ahhh....I stand corrected friend pooper......so you're saying the Cal defense is really a little behind last year's defense at this time.....some 13. something points....so Cal defense is on track......

3-0 vs 2-1. My blood is true blue.

And how's last year's average possible when we were gashed for 52 vs Nevada on game 3?

Does that count all points scored against Cal, or just the points given up by the defense?

Edit: nvm. It's obviously the latter. 14 by FSU, all 33 of Colorado's points, and 0 by PC.

First Downs: Cal 31, Presby 3
Yardage: Cal 581, Presby 48

Strange to complain about Cal's defense after this game. The defense was totally dominant, giving up no points. A blocked punt and a interception return were the only scores and they missed both PATs.

The only 1st down they gave up in the first half was on a 15 yard penalty. Another came in the final 2 minutes of the game against the deepest reserves.

Presby had more sacks and interceptions combined than completed passes. The starting quarterback had 1.6 yards per attempt and an efficiency rating of 13.8.

Defense looks way better when it is not defending a short field.
That is on the offense and special teams to keep the opponents back in their own end.

The defense got charged 14 against FSU and 12 yesterday that they had nothing to do with. By my count, after removing these points, it works out to a shade over 13 points/game. It does get harder from here on though.

I agreewith your math.....the defense is at least on a par with last year's effort....if only Tedford could get the offense and ST on the same page......to me, the lingering problems reflect coaching inability....forreee....PUNT!

I warned you not to draw conclusions from a punchless WAC team. We play aggressive and if we can't get pressure on the QB we'll pay. I'm ok with it. I think that's the way to play. If we can keep Washington under 30, then we'll have done pretty well. I don't think their defense is any better.

Feast or famine. What will really matter is how they perform against good OLs that can hold off our aggressive pressure and if our DBs can defend against good QB-WRs. The game to watch will be $C.
