...appears to be the slant or skinny post. He throws it very well. Count on the Huskies to take that one away next week. I hope there is an alternative.

Maybe start using some screens to the runningback? CO did it to us all day, no reason why we cant do the same

I expect the staff to have a lot of plays saved for this game.

I think you're right. Hope so. My wife's a Dawg. Been a bad year.

Except he sometimes throws that pass whether the received is covered or not (and sometimes double covered). I like the way he's playing -- but would like to see a little less "locking in" on the primary receiver for the play.

And how are they going to take that away? Typical response would be to drop a LB back into coverage to take away that passing lane. Typical counter by the offense would be to have a strong running attack to keep the LB honest. So then things become a guessing game, can the defense correctly guess when we want to throw that pass, can the offense stay out of obvious passing downs, etc.

This is a much better situation for Cal's offense than last year when all UW had to do was put 8 men in the box and then tackle the RB. Our ineffective offense scored 6 points last year and we still only lost by 3. I have us winning this game before hitting better opposition in the following weeks.

Though I agree Maynard could get better at looking off his primary, I don't know that it's a particularly large disadvantage for Cal that he does this. If you look around college football, you'll see that a lot of college QBs lock in on their primaries; it's pretty par for the course at this level. The ones who are good at quickly going through progressions and delivering a good pass to a secondary option are the ones who are upperclassmen and legit NFL prospects -- there aren't too many of those running around.

And their LBs are having a rough year...gotta believe this is the game where our RBs get involved in the passing game.
