Cal has yet to play:

3 wins and 1 loss.....
oregon - L
u$c- ? (L)
pucla -W
Utah -? (L)
Wazzu -W
Oregon State - W
furds -L
ASU -L

Ehhhh, Cal could still go to a B movie bowl with 6 wins (I've been told the Presbyterian win counts?).....

Okay, Cal should improve a little more this season and most likely beat, poor pucla, Wazzu, and the hapless Beavers, so all isn't lost......Tedford rep remains intake as his followers will tout Cal's bowl appearance...so looks like no harm, no foul today! I mean, it looks like a .500 6-6 season to me.....

OSU, WSU, UCLA, Utah, SC and ASU. I could see us winning anywhere from two to five of these. Three is the safe choice.

6 or more wins and going to any toilet bowl would be nice.

Another losing season would be very bad....

We should beat WSU, OSU, and UCLA getting 6 wins. If we upset one of the others 7 wins. I'd be OK with 6 or 7 wins if we're still have a chance inn the other games in the 4th quarter, ie no blowouts.

Yes, six total could be it. I could see a Utah win, but I could also possibly see fucla rising up and knocking the Bears off in a stinker.

Yes, all your comments are valid and certainly possible, but I was simply referring to the bottomline (A big corporate term that I learned) assessment of this team. Cal looks just good enough to make a toilet bowl game this season. If Cal does win those three game that I cited, so what if ...yawn...Cal beats Utah? Cal ain't a'making a better bowl and won't be ranked much higher than they look like they're going to be......

The Washington game was a step in the right direction inthat it was a good tough football game. I suppose Tedford could redeem himself if Cal upsets u$c and beat Utah, thus going 8 and 4....not bad....good enough for at least three more seasons of Tedford..and who knows what Cal will do in three more seasons....they might do great, giving Tedford maybe five more seasons.....and then......oh I'm tired......

Honestly if you want to say this is an upper conference PROGRAM we need 8 wins. I know it is a reach but really you have to beat 2 of the top 5 to be able to claim hat.

You have got to be crazy to think we will beat OSU. Riley has killed us how many years in a row?

We also have go to be crazy about bagging on Tedford. It was the defense that failed to show up. Putting up points like we did and hanging in there on the road was impressive.

It really came down to our QB vs their QB and Maynard is adequate. UW's is clearly better.

Our QB didn't have the good fortune to be throwing against our secondary like Price did. They make even mediocre QB's look good. Let's see how Price does against the top defenses in the conference; my guess is that he will look pretty ordinary.

I think we still have a shot at a very successful season, maybe even nine or ten wins. I do not concede losses to Oregon and Stanford. Who knows, maybe we play inspired ball, maybe they look past us, or maybe they suffer some key injuries. It's happened before, against both those teams.

Like @UW, the other games are more or less a toss up, depending on who is playing well. OSU should be a win but we always have trouble with them. ASU should be a loss but we have done pretty well against them recently. UCLA should be a win but we always have trouble in LA. USC should be a loss but we get them here and maybe they're starting to fall apart a little bit. And so on. So maybe we turn a corner and reel off a little 5 game win streak.

Sometimes it's hard to tell when you're turning a corner. Maybe the offensive line gels a little bit, starts picking up that one key block, and we start gashing people. Maybe a light goes off for one of our pass rushers. Maybe a light goes off for Bigelow. Any of those things could have a snowball effect on other areas of our team and really change the tenor of our season.

the team needs to improve each game of the season - no mid-season crash and burn. There isn't a "gimme" left on the schedule. A wonderful coaching opportunity...........

...I don't see us winning any of them.

- OSU has flat *owned* us, no matter how bad they've looked at the start of the season.
- UCLA *always* plays us tough down there. Hasn't a Tedford-coached Cal team only won once in LA?
- WSU is the scariest of the three IMO, if for no other reason than all the points they're putting up behind their second-string QB. Granted, you could argue that they haven't played anyone yet...but have we?

Please convince me that I'm wrong on at least one of these counts.
