I blame it all on MoragaBear, really. Here's what went down (in the fuming fury of my Cal muddled mind):

1. Ed Orgeron is pissed, really pissed -- over losing out on McCarthy, and he's still fuming when he gets to the airport to fly home from San Antonio. He runs into MB, who gently teases him over the turn of events favoring Cal during the USAA game. Orgeron responds with his famous "It aint over til it's over!" retort, and now he's really just beyond furious. He starts scheming...
2. When Orgeron returns to work in LA, he has a solution on how to get back at Cal: Washington has been screwed by Cal for a number of high-profile recruits over the past few years: Jackson, Coleman, Bigelow, etc. Ed thinks, "I can use this!", and he gives his old buddy Sark a call.
3. Ed: "Hey Sark, how they hangin?". Sark: "Feelin' a little droopy man, those sh*** at Cal are cleaning my clock in recruiting DL, which I really, desperately need". Ed: "Yeah, well I feel your pain man, they just got me good too. But hey, I got an idea on how you can help yourself, and scr** those Cal guys too". Sark: "I'm listening."
4. Orgeron proceeds to outline a plan for Sark to use Wilcox to lure Lupoi out of Cal. Even mentions that "If the offer is high enough, Cal will not be able to respond."

We all see the result. Voila. It was orchestrated man.

Want conspiracy? Both the LA schools were pissed at our recruiting class and threw a bunch of money towards UW to make the hires. The LA schools knew they'd benefit more than UW from Lupoi leaving Cal, and they knew Sark would destroy Tosh's reputation better than any of them. They also knew they had the Wilcox connection going. Luring Tosh away temporarily isn't that big a deal. He would have come back if what he said was true. But They are flat out destroying this mans reputation and likely future livelihood.

When Oregon + Stanford heard about the action, they said, "US TOO! We're getting on on this shiznat! Cal plays both these squads way too tough, last thing they need is more talent and a chance to screw up our BCS chances!" They then threw the money up there to get Kisseu.

Actually...they probably planned all of this when they were voting on the Pac12 schedules for this year. "Open renovated stadium eh? We'll knock you back down a few pegs...how about no bye week, no traditional Big Game date, and @Ohio State / @USC on back to back weeks! What? Not enough to break them? OK time to poach their coaches!"

:sarc:

~MrGPAC
