Obviously he hated everything his grandfather stood for and was a rebel at heart.

Coach Kiesau gets a great promotion and big bucks, and Cal upgrades it's WR's coach.

Coach Lupoi is free to choose and gets a fantastic raise (+ Grand Banks trawler?) in a good program on the rise, and Cal ultimately gets a more experienced soon to be named DL coach.

The recruiting matters are going to work out fine for Cal.

The unresolved downside to this sequence of business events is Coach Lupoi's negligence in running off to Seattle and not telling Coach Tedford face to face "thanks" and that he received an even better (2nd) offer from Coach Sark. Afterall Coach Tedford and AD Barber went to the well to match the first offer.

In essence, Lupoi as well as put the Cal offer back on Coach Sark's desk (to up the ante?) And much to Lupoi's surprise, it worked. Sark has deep pockets and he said, "How about we throw in a boat docked in Bellevue?" In a few days Lupoi will be putt-putting around on Puget Sound with a damsel of choice -- maybe a new one.

:acclaim:

Wow, Blueblood advocating self-restraint, humility and class. The voice of reason and integrity. Go figure. I'm with you Blue. Not that Tosh doesn't deserve it and he's already gotten plenty already.

As much as he came up in the Cal system and under Tedford, every man is still his own man.

He didn't even have the common courtesy to tell his boss and former head coach whom he "admired" and all his "bleeding blue and gold" talk? He deserves all the crap being piled on him. He didn't just burn bridges; he detonated a thermonuclear device under them. Had he done it in the off-season, I might be more lenient. But the timing and his obvious importance to the critical recruiting process... completely unforgiveable. If To$h was SO critical to Sark's coaching staff, if SARK had any class (which as a former $C honk we know not to be true) HE would have waited until after February 1. But it is so thinly veiled as an attack and underhanded that the whole Mutt athletic program should hide under a rock. Clearly they decided to emulate Whoregon rather than do things the right way.

Screw them. :axe

Maybe he found a dead horse head in his bed ala "The Godfather" and they made him an offer he couldn't refuse. :horse
