...but not because he donned the Cal cap and said "University of California."
Nah, what tickles me is seeing Brian Treggs, the original mouth that roared, looking like a proud papa and a man who who did good as a dad. Brian was a waterbug out there, 5-7, 160, on a good day, and a man who never met a first down marker he didn't celebrate. He was the consumate entertainer out there, and paired up with Sean Dawkins, it was like hot salsa on one side of the field with Treggs and cool as cucumber on the other side with Dawkins. It's funny the things that stick with you, but those sunny days of '90 / '91, with Treggs zig-zagging all over the field and letting the whole d@mn world know that this was Bear Territory, were a part of what sealed my love affair with college football.
If young Bryce plays with even 1/2 the heart and determination of his papa -- we're in for a real treat for these next few years. Major propers to the Treggs family -- how cool for Brian to come back to new Memorial this year and see his pride and joy down there on that same field where he made all those memories 20-some-odd years ago.
