Martin's a humble, well-spoken kid. Even though it's really early in the process to commit, he seems like he's a good fit and really responds to Coach G's style and personality and thinks he can get the most out of him. He's also been a lifelong Cal fan, which helps explain why he jumped as quickly as he did.

I don't think you'll ever hear the full story about why he transferred but it involved a complicated mix of local/school political nonsense. The lack of transferred credits has set him back and he'll have to do a fairly heavy summer school load but he's perfectly willing to do what it takes to get back on track.

I think you're being overly sensitive. I was not being indignant. The article made no mention of any transfer issue. As far as I can tell, he's a high school kid, not a jc guy, so why are there even any transfer issues? I apologize for not following recruiting as much as some other people here. Honestly, I really don't care. Just seems a bit careless to make some cryptic comments on the board on a sensitive issue. That's all I was pointing out.

Can we just be grateful for the free information we get. Considering other sites make you pay for insider info, I would be a little more respectful when we get a freebie.

I'll try to send this thread back in the direction it was likely intended.

Martin is a good looking football player. While not possessing blazing speed, 10.8 in the 100m, if accurate, is plenty fast to be an effective back.

The kid's film shows him to have good vision, quickness, explosion through the hole, strength, toughness and fluid moves. He does not go down easily and seems to have a knack for making defenders miss with subtle moves that don't steer him off his downhill course (similar in that respect to Marcus Allen, though his size, body type and running style remind me and others on this board more of Maurice Jones-Drew).

It is early and other programs are on him so we'll see how this unfolds. Love that he has been a long time Cal fan and loves Coach G. Hopefully the 2012 Bears can get it done on the field and convince Martin and other top level recruits that Cal is the right choice for them.
