With the first game after the restoration of historic Memorial Stadium on Sept.1, it seems like it would be a good time for the ESPN crew to make it's first visit to Berkeley. Reasons they won't:

1. The Bay Bridge will be closed for construction and they can't get there.

2. ESPN will need to show solidarity with the Penn St. football program after the pedophile scandal.

3. The weather is better in Tuscaloosa is better that time of year.

on the matt sarz website you can already pull up the beginnings of the tv schedule; a couple 9/1 matchups (they only have 4 listed right now):

Alabama/Michigan
Clemson/Auburn

because TV logistics in Berkeley are a pain in the arse do deal with
because the hill idiots will complain about the early morning noise and want an EIR prepared before ESPPN sets up the f'ing booth
because there is no good place to stay near by that the network is willing to spend the money on (the Claremont is too expensive on today's budget)
because the team has been mediocre and under-performing the last several years
because the student body is nerdy and will head off to the library an hour after the show starts (we learned that lesson over at the Farm last year- stick with SEC academic style schools)
because we our Eastern Sports Network Programming (ESPN) and we don't really care about any market on the west coast other than Los Angeles, and Cal isn't playing SC this year at CMS

because there are no more decent camera angles of the tree sitters

The Farm show was classic. There were approximately 12 people in the background for most of the morning.

I'd sooner put money they'll be there when Ohio State comes in 2013.

I don't see ESPN coming since both teams will be unranked. maybe the most we can hope for is a special presentation of the game to kickoff the P12 Network.

OK, this is pretty funny!

The new stadium will be good for about 3 min of television coverage. After that the team has to be intersting. Right now the team is not interesting. Lets win 5 in a row and then we can complain about lack of TV coverage.
