How long do you want to ignore this user?
In looking at a Direct TV "come-on", I'm struck by the mass of confusing fine print. Puts the insurance industry to shame! It appears there is a low cost intro offer tied to a 2 year commitment plus add-ons for DVR (rental?), HD service, Tivo etc. I tried talking to one of their reps but he was so focused on selling extras that I finally hung up in frustration. Could some of you real subscribers summarize what an actual bill looks like? I have 2 old (not HD) TV sets, Tivo on 1 and an old VCR on the other. I'm not likely to upgrade until something dies (I figure I may go first) and I'm really not interested in things like HBO or Pay per View.

I'm a long time Directv subscriber with no real complaints. With that said, now is NOT the time IMO for a Cal fan to be thinking of starting a 2 year commitment to them. If they haven't added the P12 network by whenever it launches in August, I'm gone after nearly 20 years no questions asked.

I'll edit to show you what my bill looks like after look it up (not cheap I can tell you that).

EDIT: Below are the charges and adjustments from my actual April bill. A couple of things: (1) I may have a package ("CHOICE") that's grandfathered in and not offered anymore; (2) this bill reflects my annual cancellation of the "out of market sports package" after the basketball season ended. This year they gave me showtime free for 3 months when I did that, so that's on there too. These are shown under "adjustments" and are not normally on my bill, so typically it would be around $10-$12 higher (Sept thru March); (3) like you, I don't have HD or what they call "whole home DVR." Those would cost more. (I do have regular TiVo/DVR though, $8/mo.)

Current Charges for Service Period 04/01/12 - 04/30/12
04/01 04/30 CHOICE Monthly 63.99

Great stuff, and thank you. Only thing you left out though, (sorry), who/what number do we call to 'demand' (pardon the pun!) they get the Pac-12, or we switch in droves!?

Can't miss what you've never had and I don't watch enough TV to make it a priority to upgrade right now. I also have the most basic cell service available and no wish for a smart phone. Guess I'm just a contented Luddite.

1-800-531-5000 EDIT: When the automated message comes on, just keep pressing "0" repeatedly until it says "Ok I'll transfer you to an operator now." Saves a ton of time.

It's funny (I guess). The OPs post made me notice a discrepancy with my bill. I called them and they refused to correct it. Now I'm going to cancel within the month and switch to comcast, which I'm not really too thrilled about either, but at least I'll know I'll get the P12 net.

Thank you, Good man, hope they get the message! Will call, also.
