I've been looking in to cable TV options for getting the PAC12 network her ein SoCal. For COX Cable you can get the Standard definition PAC12 LA if you order the Sports and Info package, but to get the PAC12LA HD channel you have to order the premium HD movie package, seven HBO channels, five MAX channels, three Showtime channels, two The Movie Channels, and five Starz channels; with all that you get the Big 10 and the PAC12LA HD channels. I visited my mother in LA Quinta who has Wime Tarner and she get the PAC12 LA channel in HD with the basic HD package, Has to upgrade to the premium HD Sports package to get the PAC12 network (National) in HD, but I couldn't find the SD PAC12LA channel.
Comparing the pictures of PAC12LA HD to PAC12LA SD was night and day. The HD signal was excellent as I would expect from an HD channel. The PAC12LA SD channel on Cox has color standards from the NTSC 1970s with poorer image sharpness; of the some five hundred channels I get on cable the PAC12LA SD channel is at the bottom for quality.
The SD quality is so bad that I will have to get the HD channel if I'm going to watch the PAC12 network. The problem is that I have never found the 'movie' channels worth the extra premium for us. Plus these are not the main movie channels but their alternate channels. The cost to get the PAC12 LA regional in HD would be an additional $22.98 per month above the Cox Advanced TV Premier package. I may have to go to a Sports Bar next Saturday.

..sadly it's a given that literally inhuman corporations in this country will ruthlessly gouge their customers, without pity or scruple of any sort, to maximize execs' monstrously obscene salaries.

Yep, naked greed gone mad, with no regard for customer employee nor shareholders' irrelevant interests.

/* Rant mode OFF */

That said, shoot, "$23 per month for PAC12 HD?" might not be out of line, competitively speaking.

Bottom line: let the buyer beware.

Cox (aka Cocks) has been gouging for several years now. I can't wait to get ripped off by direct t.v. instead but then again, where I live in So. Cal, you still need Cox for internet services :headbang

Time Warner customers have their own complaints, but the PAC12 LA HD channel is included with HD premium service. OF course if Direct TV charges $30/month for their PAC12 HD service Cox won't seem bad.

Still it's strange for Cox to bundle just the Big10 and PAC12 HD channels with second tier movie channels and not other Sports channels...
