There's no point in talking about JT leaving or being terminated

So shut the conversation off.

If anything you only hurt our chances for recruiting and gives fuel to the fire for opposing coaches to cite instability in the fan base.

Stop the nonsense. There will be a time for this discussion at the end of the season.

NOT NOW.

Got any other suggestions on what to discuss? Our coach is a disaster and we will never reach the promise land with him. No point in delaying the inevitable.

Fan base instability is what doomed this guy. Stay the course.

There are three general topics for Cal FB right now:

JT leaving
New Staff
Product on the field

That is all.

until we start winning, not talking about Tedford won't change that. With that said, the last years of Holmoe were worse and we obviously recruited pretty well as evidenced by Tedford's early years. There is something to be said for the quality of a kid who wants to come play for Cal even when we are not winning. The cupboard will not be bare for the next coach.

I also agree that this has to be discussed but at the appropriate time and furthermore...

It's not like any of us has the power to do anything about it.

Let's talk about the election. We can certainly debate the merits of how amazing Obama is doing and how much worse off we'd be with Romney or vice versa.

This is just a adding fuel to the fire statement, not my personal belief

Someone posted recently, something like this:

Posters on Bear Insider seem to think their posts have more impact than they actually do.

And he was right.

How sleep deprived are you right now?

I was going to post one of those 'leave Britney alone' pictures, but thought against it. Hope your little one is doing well.

You're wrong. Firing tedford is the only relevant thing to discuss. The 2012 season is over. The 2013 season hangs in the balance.

As long as Terdford is the coach, who cares about our chances at recruiting? He's just going to waste the talent anyway.

The opposite is true imo. The only way to salvage the recruiting class is to get rid of Tedford - a la Mora and UCLA.

I do believe this Board has a minor impact in that (as the most visited site) it sets the conventional wisdom for Cal football and is read by scribes like Wilner, Jenkins (alum) etc...

I disagree. Coaching changes happen quickly after a season is finished. We have to keep the pressure on the AD to make sure a change happens. That is the single most important thing for the program right now. As far as recruiting, the end of the season is also recruiting season so the "conversation" will impact recruiting regardless. Now is the time to make sure the AD hears us. We can't be complacent because there is a good chance Tedford will be back next year and that is the worst outcome for the program.

Dear Lord I hope not. This place is beset by numerous trolls and represent the fringe of the Cal fan community. If this board had that much affect JT would've been gone years ago for failing to get us to the RB.

This has just become a place for everyone to take their frustrations out on each other.

What pressure is that? Unless you're a major donor I doubt your emails matter. What really matters are 1) major donors and 2) number of empty seats at CMS. All else is immaterial.

Following the Lupoi fallout last winter, the spin coming from inside the Cal football program was that coaching is far more important than recruiting and that is why Lupoi was expendable. Can't go back on the story now. We all drank the Kool-Aid. Screw recruiting (this is in effect what Cal said after Lupoi left) lets get us some coaching. If recruiting mattered OSU, BSU, Utah, Utah St., SJS and Nevada wouldn't be winning teams.

If recruiting was this important to Cal, they would have ponied up the extra couple hundred thousand or so for Tosh. I wonder if some folks are regretting not paying out that kind of cash then instead of looking at paying out millions now. And no I am not defending Tosh. I'm just pointing out that Cal's priorities have been stated loud and clear via their prior decisions in this area.

edit: By far the most debilitating effect on recruiting at this point is the way we play ultra-conservative football each and every Saturday. Teen-agers want excitement and glory not safe and conservative. Tedford's personality may be attractive to parents but his style of play is boring to kids.

+1 my point exactly.

What pressure do you think you have? I have none that I know of.

It's like yelling at the TV. What's the point?

When you're yelling at home, no one hears.
What's on the internet is seen and read by others. It does provide pressure.

Don't double-speak with me!
!!!

On the one hand, you're telling me don't be overly negative because recruits and their parents read it. On the other hand, you're telling me that it has no effect.

It definitely has an effect. This ain't 1990 anymore. What's on the internet makes an impact and has to be addressed even by the most powerful organization.

Don't believe me? The President of the US has to address even the most ridiculous accusation on the internet and release his birth certificate. If a particular opinion or sentiment gets enough traction among the fan base, and the internet is a tool for those census to be built, they will have to address it whether they admit it or not. You think no one cares? You must be living in the last century.
