I don't understand why some of you think Cal can't get Kirby Smart, Diaz, Peterson. Now they may not want to come out here for various reasons, but it won't be becuase they're going to be big timing Cal.
Even for the last Cal head coaching vacancy it was down to Tedford, Marvin Lewis and Charlie Strong and that was before the massive facility upgrades, being a winning program, and massive influx of high visibility pro bowl caliber talent into the NFL. Not to mention loads of talent on the roster, great location, top notch education, weather, and job opportunities.
I don't know how much the big donors are willing to shell out and for whom, but I'd be willing to guess that there are some names that people wouldn't even imagine that would at least make inquiries.
Why would nearly half a billion be spent on improving the stadium/facilities so Cal can get a football coach for 1 million per year.
