I think one of the least discussed weaknesses discussed here about JT is the apparent lack of a network of adoring high school coaches. I would like more knowledgeable members to comment here, but as the dean of PAC 12 coaches shouldn't that be one of the HUGE upsides to JT? He has had years to show his character and ability with players and families so that every upstanding high school coach in Northern CA is pimping JT to their stars.
That does not seem to be the case. Shaq is microcosm, but shouldn't he have tremendous love for JT and how he saw his brother treated while here? My sense was that he liked Cal, but wanted to have his own experience identity elsewhere--AND that he wasn't in love with JT nor did he see him as a father figure. That's what you are supposed to get by fostering a coach longterm. Especially a high character guy.
Where's the pipeline and the 11 years of goodwill?
